Volkswagen ID. Buzz Long Wheelbase Revealed With 3 Rows Of Seats
A long wheelbase version of the Volkswagen ID. Buzz with three rows of seats will be available in the USA.
The electric microbus successor, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz, will be available with a long-wheelbase for the North American market. This new version was shown last week and will go on sale in 2024. Besides having a longer wheelbase, this US-version of the ID.Buzz also comes with a larger battery, more horsepower and three rows of seats as standard.
Just like the European version, the standard long-wheelbase ID.Buzz comes with a rear-mounted powerplant. This new ‘APP550’ permanent magnet synchronous motor has an output of 282hp and 550Nm of torque, which is much higher than the European standard output of 201hp.
There will also be a 330hp all-wheel drive model available at launch. The new motor design allows for a higher top speed of 160km/h versus 145km/h on the European model.
In addition, the battery capacity is 91 kWh on this model versus 82 kWh on the 2-row European model. Volkswagen have not disclosed what the range of this new model is, but says it’ll be more than the 2-row model’s 415km range.
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz is built on the Modular Electric Drive (MEB) with multi-link rear suspension and struts at the front. The wheelbase of this model has been stretched by nearly 250mm versus the standard model.
