Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Reborn In 2024 With EV Or V6 Power Choice
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale can be optioned with either petrol or electric power.
Alfa Romeo is finally hitting its stride after folded into the larger Stellantis conglomerate. The company has recently announced the rebirth of the 33 Stradale, a beauty that was first launched back in 1967. The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is quite a unique vehicle. Only 33 of these two-seater coupes will be made by the company’s new “Bottega” coach-builder arm.
Most interestingly, the 33 Stradale can be optioned with either a 2.9L V6 twin-turbo with over 620 horsepower or a battery electric configuration with over 750 horsepower! Offering both electric and petrol power may just be a first in this segment.
You can get mass market premium vehicles like the XC40 in BEV, PHEV, HEV and ICE options. Alfa Romeo say it will have a top speed of 333km/h and do 0-100km/h in under 3 seconds. The electric version has an estimated range of 450km.
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is built on an aluminium H-frame and carbon fibre monocoque for extreme lightness and rigidity. The roof structure is made of the same materials and the butterfly doors are hinged on it. Window frames too are made of carbon fibre while the rear window is constructed of polycarbonate.
Even without the aid of active aero, this Alfa Romeo has a coefficient of drag of just 0.375cD. It gets double-arm suspension with active shock absorbers, a front axle lift, a brake-by-wire system, and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. Alfa Romeo got support from their F1 team driver Valtteri Bottas, who put it through its paces on the Balocco track and gave input for tuning.
Inside, the cockpit was designed with minimum distraction. There are a limited number of controls, mostly on the centre console. A 3D “telescope” design has been implemented for the driver display.
There are two trim levels, “Tributo” and “Alfa Corse” and an aviation theme dominates the interior.
There’s plenty of aluminium, carbon fibre, leather and Alcantara throughout the cabin of the 33 Stradale. The wraparound seats in particular get Poltrona Frau leather. There will of course be customization options available.
