Porsche 911 GT3 RS Arrives In Malaysia From RM2,630,000

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the ultimate performance-oriented model of the 992 generation.

Sime Darby Auto Performance today launched the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 RS at the Sepang International Circuit alongside the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2023.

The 911 GT3 RS features a host of upgrades that elevate the performance of the 992-generation Porsche 911 to new limits. Porsche have also tried some new things with this new GT3 RS versus the last one.

At the heart of the 911 GT3 RS is the naturally-aspirated 4.0L boxer 6, now tuned to 525PS and 465Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed PDK with shorter overall gear ratios than the 911 GT3. The motor gets new camshafts with modified cam profiles, a motorsport-derived single-throttle intake system and rigid valve drive. 0-100km/h takes just 3.2 seconds and the top speed is 296km/h.

Stopping power comes from aluminium monobloc fixed caliper brakes with six pistons each and brake discs with a diameter of 408mm on the front axles. Road-legal sports tyres have been fitted in staggered sizes (275/35 R20 front, 335/30 R21 rear). Thanks to extensive use of CFRP components, the total weight of the 911 Carrera RS is just 1,450kg.

One major change is the introduction of a single central intercooler as opposed to the triple radiator layout from before. This has resulted in flow optimisation and efficiency increases. The new S-Duct layout also allows for the maximum possible air flow rate at the central radiator. There’s a new lightweight CFRP front lid with two large exhaust openings. The front trunk storage area has also been eliminated as a result of these changes.

The improvements in aerodynamics due to changes in fin designs means that the engine is fed cooler air while warm air is directed away from the intake. The new rear wing is so much larger with 40% more surface area. It features a swan neck connection with wing element adjustability happening in just 0.35 of a second. Under the front of the vehicle, there are 2 electromechanically-adjustable front wings which adjust in 0.3 seconds. These adjustments are in sync with those happening on the rear wing elements. This is also the first 911 GT3 RS with a fully pannelled under-body and of course a lot of work has been done to optimise aero here, especially with the rear diffuser area.

All the changes in aero result in a major improvement in maximum downforce versus the previous 911 GT3 RS model. At 285km/h, the new 911 GT3 RS generates 860kg of downforce where the previous model generated 405kg of downforce. At 200km/h, the figure is 406kg on the new model and 200kg on the last one.

The starting price of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is RM2,630,000.
