UMW Toyota Motor Shows Great Numbers In August 2023

August 2023 was a month of improved sales for UMW Toyota Motor.

UMW Toyota Motor has concluded August 2023 with remarkable numbers to show. Despite the introduction of Tesla to the market and UMW’s acquisition by Sime Darby, they achieved a monthly total sales figure of 10,275 units, including both Toyota and Lexus vehicles. This marked a substantial increase from July 2023 when they recorded sales of 8,349 units. Year-to-date sales as of August 2023 stood at 67,283 units, up from 61,639 units during the same period last year, reflecting a 9.2% year-on-year growth. August 2023 alone saw a 13% year-on-year increase in sales.

Exciting Product Lineup

Toyota continues to enhance its product portfolio to cater to the diverse preferences of Malaysian customers. In August 2023, they introduced two exciting upgrades to the Toyota Corolla lineup: the Corolla GR Sport variant and the 2023 Corolla IMP model. The Corolla GR Sport, starting at RM152,800, offers a sporty driving experience, appealing to enthusiasts seeking an exhilarating ride. Meanwhile, the 2023 Corolla IMP model, priced at RM139,800 onwards, comes with a range of enhancements that underline Toyota’s commitment to delivering exceptional driving experiences.

Updates to Hilux, Fortuner, and Innova

UMW Toyota Motor also gave the Hilux, Fortuner, and Innova range received updates. Notably, the Hilux GR Sport now boasts a power increase to 224PS and 550Nm of torque, making it the most powerful pickup in its class. The addition of Tailgate Assist as a standard feature for the Hilux GR Sport, Rogue, and 2.4V variants enhances convenience for customers. Additionally, RFID tags are now standard for all variants of the Hilux, Fortuner, and Innova, ensuring a seamless ownership experience.

Exciting Sporting Events

UMW Toyota Motor is not just about automobiles; they actively engage in sporting events. In August 2023, the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup Malaysia 2023 brought excitement to the simulator racing scene, attracting professional racers, celebrities, and first-timers. The event garnered more than two million online viewers across three days. The champion, Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira, emerged as the most decorated GR GT Cup Malaysia racer, and the tournament offered a substantial prize pool of RM90,500.

The Toyota Tour also continued with its seventh leg, the Corolla Cross Cup, showcasing top-class golfing talent in Malaysia. The Toyota Tour is an excellent platform for both professional and amateur golfers, providing substantial rewards and recognition.

Other Initiatives

UMW Toyota Motor takes corporate social responsibility seriously. The Toyota Eco Youth Challenge (TEY) returned in August 2023 with a focus on environmental awareness. The competition encourages youths to tackle environmental issues creatively within their communities, using Toyota’s 8-Step Problem Solving Methodology. With a cash prize pool of RM77,000, TEY aims to instill a love and care for the environment among the younger generation.

As part of their commitment to Malaysian society, UMW Toyota Motor celebrated Merdeka month with promotions that included up to 100% loans on brand-new Toyota vehicles. They also released a film featuring children sharing their views on Malaysia’s unique identity and the nation’s future.
