Xiaomi SU7 Sedan, How Much Will It Cost?

With top tier electric performance, how will the Xiaomi SU7 sell when released?

It’s not everyday that you hear about a smartphone manufacturer suddenly “shifting gears” and turning towards building electric vehicles (EVs) but that is exactly what Chinese automaker (no surprise there), Xiaomi, announced not too long ago, and now we have a fully functioning EV ready to go. Let’s take a look at it.

Xiaomi

Here’s a clear look at the Xiaomi SU7 Max in Aqua Blue. Does it remind you of another high-performance car? Well, this is Xiaomi’s purported highest-spec fully electric performance sedan with twin motors that claims to deliver a level of driving performance like the Porsche Taycan Turbo.

Moreover, on top of boasting top tier specs that pit it against some of the most expensive and highest performing EVs on the market right now, the Xiaomi SU7 also sports a rather odd looking hump on the front end of the roof of the car. Apparently this hump is used for LIDAR likely in self driving capabilities.

The Xiaomi SU7 Max with dual motors apparently makes 664hp and 838Nm of torque which allows it to get from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.78 seconds, on to a top speed of 265km/h. It uses an 800V battery architecture which means it can be fast charged with up to 220km of range in just 5 minutes or up to 510km range in 15 minutes.

Still, Xiaomi has yet to reveal any official pricing for its new electric sedan but for now the “slippery” design delivers an impressively low drag coefficient of just 0.195cd. The 101kWh battery pack also boasts a spectacular range of up to 800km of CLTC-rated range on a single charge.

On top of that, in terms of storage, the Xiaomi SU7 is not just stylish but also very practical with a very spacious 517L of boot space. It even features a large 105L frunk under the bonnet. While the interior dimensions have yet to be revealed, we can infer that with this much storage space, the cabin is likely also spacious and comfortable.

Xiaomi

Of course, the Xiaomi SU7 also comes in a RWD version. It gets a single motor setup pushing a less potent but still impressive 295hp and 400Nm of torque. It can get from 0 to 100km/h in a respectable 5.28 seconds and features a top speed of 210km/h. The base model has a CLTC-rated range of 668km. Not as impressive as the top spec but still better than most EVs.
