GWM Ora Good Cat Repriced, Now Starts At RM113,800
The Ora Good Cat has been repriced in light of intensifying competition in Malaysia.
Back in late 2022, Great Wall Malaysia (GWM) became the first Chinese car manufacturer to launch an electric vehicle (EV), taking advantage of the government’s generous tax incentives for cars. They launched the Ora Good Cat as a CBU product with no excise duty or import taxes in two variants – the 400 Pro at RM139,800 and the 500 Ultra at RM169,800. Now, those same variants have been repriced at RM113,800 and RM143,800, a drop of 18.6% and 15.3% respectively.
As a reminder, the Ora Good Cat is built on the LEMON E platform and both variants come with the same 143PS, 210Nm of torque front-mounted electric motor enabling a century sprint time of 7.9 seconds. In terms of range, the 400 Pro returns 400km on the NEDC cycle with its 47.8kWh LFP battery while the 500 Pro returns 500km with its 63.1kWh ternary lithium ion battery.
Why The Price Drop
GWM took a big risk going first in 2022 as the rest of their competition could play the wait-and-see game. That’s exactly what happened with BYD, Tesla and Chery who all came in with either more brand value, range, or equipment at competitive pricing. Chery’s Omoda E5 pricing was in fact so competitive that it forced BYD to lower Atto 3 pricing as well, though that could also be down to clearing old stock. GWM’s Ora Good Cat pricing applies to 2024 models.

The Ora Good Cat comes in 7 colour options for the Malaysian market:
- Coral Blue
- Sun Black
- Mars Red with Black Roof
- Pistachio Green
- Verdant Green with White Roof
- EM Beige with Wisdom Brown Roof
- Hamilton White with Black Roof
2024 Ora Good Cat buyers will benefit from a 5-year / 150,000 km full vehicle warranty, and 8-year / 180,000 km battery, electric motor and electric motor control unit warranty. During this Raya period (until end of April 2024), you also get a complimentary Home Wall Box charger and a 3-pin Portable charger with any Ora Good Cat purchase.
Existing owners of the Ora Good Cat will also get an additional 2 year / 150,000km vehicle warranty extension plus 5 years / 75,000km free maintenance (parts and labour included) on top of last completed service interval.
