Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC Facelift Launched

Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC facelift arrives in Malaysia with big upgrades for the rear occupants.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today had their Luxury Showcase at NZ Wheels Bangsar where they launched and previewed some of their top-end vehicles. One of the more interesting launches was the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC facelift, which replaces the outgoing model while bringing it closer to being an “S-Class among SUVs”.

Under the hood, it’s a pretty similar vehicle to the outgoing model. There’s still a 3.0L inline 6 engine with a mild hybrid element in the form of an ISG, a 48V electrical system, a 9G TRONIC automatic sending power to all four wheels. Total system output is 381hp and 500Nm of torque with the ISG providing 15kW and 200Nm of torque as a boost. 0-100km/h takes just 6.1 seconds. The GLS comes with the AIRMATIC Package, MAGIC VISION CONTROL, power closing, and GUARD 360°.

The exterior gets a minor update in the form of a new striking front grille with four galvanized louvres, new bumpers with integrated air inlet grilles and high-gloss black surrounds, a simulated underguard and new paint finishes such as Sodalite Blue Metallic and MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey Solid.

The car comes with the AMG Line exterior in Malaysia with 22″ AMG multi-spoke light alloy look in aluminium look with running boards with rubber studs. The adaptive MULTIBEAM LED headlights feature intelligent light functions with the help of individually controllable LEDs.

The biggest change comes to the interior. It now features major upgrades to the 2nd row. Here the GLS now features multi-contour seats with massage function, lumbar support and luxury head restraints. There are MBUX rear seat tablets, rear wireless charging for mobile devices, and additional trim elements on the backs of the front seat backrests and map pockets. There are also 2 USB slots with 100W charging as well as Thermotronic auto climate control for the rear.

There are upgrades up front as well. A new generation of MBUX infotainment, 7 contextual digital instrument clusters, brown open poer walnut wood trim, a nappa leather sports steering wheel, and Energizing Air Control are some of the highlights.

There’s also the Parking Package with 360-degree camera and transparent bonnet function when offroad mode is active.
