Why is the Dongfeng Box being discounted just months after its official launch
This is a compact electric hatchback car that should be in competition with the Perodua soon to launch electric car which will be about the same size, inside and outside.
Launched on November 26th 2024, just 3 plus months ago with the E2 priced at RM100,000 and the E3 at RM115,000, it is now already being heavily discounted just like with many other electric cars on sale in Malaysia. Yes, we have seen almost all electric cars being discounted just months after launch and some by as much as 20 percent of its launch selling price. If you wait a year, the discount can be as much as 35 percent of its launch price for some brands.
So, as a new electric car buyer what should you do?

Meanwhile, we have new EV launches every month and the technology keeps getting better and better.
Therefore, Dongfeng should have quickly worked on marketing and promotion to get as many Malaysian customers as possible before the Perodua electric car arrives. However, it looks like it did not happen.
The current advertised price difference between the two Dongfeng BOX variants is about just RM10k and we believe that if you do decide to buy this electric car, best to go for a higher specification version as the added driving range of 80 kilometers or so, the cabin added features and of course, the faster acceleration and mid-range ‘punch’ is all well worth the added monthly instalment costs. Do note that the E3 being the higher spec and possessing about 430km of range and the E2, the lower spec.
This Dongfeng Box has a quirky and cute design and a compact body measuring 4,020mm in length, 1,810mm in width and 1,570mm in height. It’s quite spacious.
The Dongfeng Box supports both fast and slow charging methods, allowing for a quick recharge from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes with a DC charger
