Jetour showed off the X20, X50 and X70 plus, all of which will likely be renamed
Jetour only recently launched its first vehicle in Malaysia, the Dashing but it is already teasing other models it may launch here soon proving its commitment to expansion. Following the recent launch of the Jetour Dashing, the company has previewed the X50, X70 Plus, and X20 on a trip it took us on to Shanghai recently and we are so excited for the brand’s future in Malaysia.

The Jetour Dashing, a C-segment SUV, was launched mere weeks ago, with the first 100 units being fully imported (CBU) from China. CKD operations commenced earlier this month at Berjaya Assembly’s Johor facility and it is definitely grabbing attention. Priced from RM109,800, the Dashing is available in two variants which many Malaysians seem to love.
Moreover, the Jetour X70 Plus, a seven-seater SUV, was previewed at the 2024 Malaysia Autoshow and is slated for launch in Q2 2025. To avoid naming conflicts with another SUV with the same name, the model will likely be renamed here before launch. It shares the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine of the Dashing but will likely be tuned to make more power.

The Jetour X70 Plus boasts a modern interior with a 10.25-inch twin display and a 360-degree camera system among other features. Safety features include autonomous emergency braking, six airbags and ADAS in the top spec variant. I feel this model will be the most popular of all the models the brand showed us and will probably be priced very competitively too.
On top of that, Jetour also showcased the X50 and X20 models, indicating plans to expand its SUV lineup in Malaysia. The X50 compact SUV and X20 subcompact hatchback, both of which will have to be renamed, will satisfy the lower income Malaysians’ demands while also offering new drivers a budget friendly option that is not so intimidating to drive.

Jetour’s entry into the Malaysian market is part of its broader strategy to establish a significant presence in Southeast Asia with Malaysia being its hub. The brand aims to develop a sales network of 80 outlets in Malaysia and achieve a sales target of 150,000 units over the next five years and it seems they are dead serious about achieving these goals.

Jetour positions itself as a premium off-road brand and while the first few models it is bringing in are not necessarily very off-road focused, it did show off a few models that do live up to the off-road image like the T2 and G700 which may come to Malaysia later on. Stay tuned to what the brand does next here because it seems to be very interesting indeed.
