Peugeot Launches E-308 In Europe, Why Doesn’t Stellantis Bring It To Malaysia?

EVs are popular in Malaysia, so it would make sense for Stellantis to bring the E-308 here

We all know that whatever one may feel about EVs, none can deny their popularity in Malaysia, at least for now. So it would be quite strange then, if a brand were to launch an affordable and stylish EV but choose not to bring it to our market. Well, in that same spirit, we ask now, why is Stellantis not bringing in the Peugeot E-308 to Malaysia then?

Peugeot has unveiled the E-308 E Style in Europe, a special edition of its fully electric compact hatchback designed to make electric mobility more accessible. Priced from just €37,230 (roughly RM182,885), the E-308 E Style delivers the same performance as the rest of the E-308 range, 156bhp, 270Nm of torque and a WLTP driving range of up to 416km.

Moreover, the E-308 E Style is part of Peugeot’s broader push to become the leading mainstream electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer in Europe. This special edition joins the current E-308 lineup, which also includes the Allure and GT variants, priced higher at €42,590 (about RM209,209) and €44,870 (roughly RM220,408) respectively, before incentives.

The Peugeot E-308 aims to accelerate EV adoption by offering more value and features without compromising on performance or quality. Standard features on the E-308 E Style include dual-zone climate control, hands-free starting, LED headlamps, i-Cockpit with a customisable digital diver display and central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Charging convenience is also a strong point with the Peugeot E-308 E Style as it comes with an 11kW three-phase on-board charger and supports rapid charging, allowing it to charge from 20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger. Naturally, this will be one of the main factors behind consumers choosing this car.

On top of that, Peugeot strengthens its EV offering with the Allure Care warranty, an industry-leading 8-year or 160,000km coverage not only for the battery but also for the electric motor, charger and transmission. This comprehensive warranty is automatically renewed for two years or 25,000 km after each service conducted within the Peugeot network.

With European markets enjoying increasingly affordable and well-equipped EVs like the E-308 E Style, Malaysian EV enthusiasts are stuck wondering why is the Peugeot E-308 not launching here in Malaysia, especially as demand for affordable, long-range EVs continues to grow? Could the recent price wars be to blame?
