The MGS5 EV Arrives With an Attractive Price Tag & Early Bird Pricing

MG MGS5 EV Launched in Malaysia: Starting from Just RM109,900 with 430km Range

SAIC Motor Malaysia has officially launched the MGS5 EV after previewing it at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. Prices start from RM115,900 for the standard 49kWh variant, but the first 500 buyers enjoy an exclusive RM6,000 discount, reducing the starting price to just RM109,900. The offer also includes a complimentary 7kW Wallbox home charger.

Three variants are on offer:

  • MGS5 EV COM (49kWh, 340km range) – RM115,900
  • MGS5 EV COM Long Range (62kWh, 430km range) – RM125,900
  • MGS5 EV LUX Long Range (62kWh, 430km range, premium features) – RM135,900

The COM Long Range seems to be the perfect ‘sweet spot’ as it’s just 8% more expensive than the base model but offers 90km more range, faster DC charging speeds, leather and fabric upholstery, and powered adjustment for the driver seat.

The flagship LUX Long Range adds features like 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, six premium speakers, a power-adjustable driver seat, 360° surround view camera, and a powered tailgate with kick sensor.

Performance-wise, all variants deliver 170PS and 250Nm of torque via a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration — a rare setup in its segment. AC charging is rated at 7kW across the board.

Inside, the MGS5 EV comes well equipped with a 12.8” infotainment screen, 10.25” digital cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and MG’s iSMART connectivity suite. Safety is comprehensive too, with 7 airbags, adaptive cruise control, AEB, lane-keeping systems, and drowsiness monitoring included as standard.

The MGS5 EV’s horizontal battery layout allows for a low centre of gravity while maintaining cabin spaciousness.

Boot space ranges from 453L to a class-leading 1,441L with seats folded.

Available colours include Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and the LUX-exclusive Elegant Latte.

The SUV can be test driven at MG’s roadshow in Mid Valley Megamall (20–25 May 2025), where all variants will be showcased alongside the MG5, MG4, MG HS, and the electric MG Cyberster roadster.

The MGS5 EV is aimed at bringing competition to one of the most popular EV models in Malaysia, the BYD Atto 3, which recently got an updated spec and price with the Atto 3 Ultra at RM123,800 with some additional promo pricing.
