When will we see air taxis like the ones from Archer Aviation at LA28 in Malaysia?
Remember ‘Wawasan 2020,’ well, if you are old enough to remember it, you will remember one of the hallmarks of this vision was flying cars and while Malaysia has delayed our vision to 2050, flying cars already exist. We know this as Archer Aviation has been named the Official Air Taxi Provider for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA.

Through this exclusive U.S.-based partnership, Archer’s innovative Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft will be integrated into the transportation strategy for the Games. The aircraft will be used to shuttle VIPs, fans and key stakeholders, support emergency services, enhance security and bring electrified air mobility to vertiports near event venues.
Moreover, the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games are expected to attract over 15 million visitors to Los Angeles and reach billions of viewers worldwide. Archer’s Midnight aircraft, designed to be safe, quiet, and environmentally friendly, will offer a futuristic and efficient way to travel around the city during the Games.
Midnight is a piloted eVTOL aircraft designed to carry up to four passengers with low noise and zero emissions, offering a safer, more sustainable alternative to helicopters. With 12 engines and fault-tolerant systems, the aircraft is designed to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety standards comparable to commercial airlines.

It is manufactured in the US at Archer’s facilities in San Jose, California, and Covington, Georgia. Archer’s vision is to create a reliable air taxi network across Los Angeles, connecting vertiports near key locations like the LA Memorial Coliseum, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Hollywood, Santa Monica and Orange County.
On top of that, the goal is to offer passengers, whether locals or international visitors, a 10 to 20-minute flight to their destination, helping ease congestion during the Games. “This is a chance to reshape how people move through Los Angeles and leave a lasting impact on urban transportation in the U.S.,” said Adam Goldstein, CEO and founder of Archer Aviation.
Casey Wasserman, LA28 Chairperson and President, added, “At LA28, we’re committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation. Our partnership with Archer will help us reimagine how spectators and participants experience the Games and showcase the best of Los Angeles on a global stage.”

The agreement also includes featured storytelling opportunities with NBCUniversal during its 2026 and 2028 Olympic coverage, including the LA28 Opening and Closing Ceremonies
