Denza D9 Reaches 250,000 Units Globally

The Denza D9 has hit a new production milestone.

Premium electric MPV maker Denza, a luxury sub-brand under BYD, has achieved a significant production milestone. On June 10, Denza officially announced that its 250,000th D9 unit had rolled off the assembly line, solidifying the D9 as one of the fastest-growing models in the electric MPV segment globally.

Launched with a refreshed identity, the 2025 Denza D9 went on sale in China in late December 2024. Buyers there have access to eight trim levels, including five PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) options priced from 339,800 yuan to 449,800 yuan, and three BEV (battery electric vehicle) variants ranging from 349,800 yuan to 469,800 yuan. The 2 BEV variants sold in Malaysia ranges from RM259K to RM309K.

Visually, the 2025 Denza D9 carries over its signature luxury MPV silhouette but introduces modernised detailing. A bold chrome grille, “L”-shaped silver trim, and sleek LED lighting lend a more upscale presence. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and integrated side cameras also boost the model’s tech-forward appeal, though this feature isn’t standard.

Inside, the D9 offers a futuristic and luxurious cabin. It boasts a tri-screen setup, including a 15.6-inch floating central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch passenger display. Rear passengers are treated to high-end comforts with one-touch zero-gravity second-row seats, 14-way adjustments, leg rests, massage functions, and extended sliding rails for maximum space.

Underpinning the D9 is BYD’s latest fifth-generation DM hybrid platform. Power options include an AWD version offering dual motors (200 kW front and 45 kW rear) and the FWD variant powered by a single 200 kW motor. There is also a hybrid version but this is not available in Malaysia yet. Some variants comes standard with the DiPilot 300 ADAS system, supported by 32 sensors including LiDAR in some markets.

In Malaysia, the Denza D9 made its official debut in February 2025. It is offered in two variants – a front-wheel-drive (FWD) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration – catering to the growing demand for premium electric MPVs in the local market. The Denza D9 was named Electric Luxury MPV of the Year at our DSF.my Vehicle of the Year Awards 2025.
