Fatal Crash In Rompin: Man Killed, Fiancée Critically Injured In Collision With Lorry

There have been far too many accidents involving a heavy vehicle crash recently, why?

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 32-year-old man and left his fiancée critically injured when their car collided with a lorry along Kilometer 147 of Jalan Kuantan-Seremban, near Simpang Melati in Muadzam Shah earlier today. The deceased has been identified as Muhamad Nasri Sulaiman, a resident of Felda Jenderak Utara in Temerloh.

The accident occurred around 12:25 PM, when the Proton Wira driven by Muhamad Nasri reportedly made a left turn at a junction without checking for traffic. Rompin District Police Chief, Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mandoi, said preliminary investigations indicate that the crash was caused by the car driver making a sudden and reckless turn at the junction.

Moreover, as a result, the vehicle was struck by a lorry that was heading from Bahau, Negeri Sembilan toward Muadzam Shah. “The impact of the collision was severe, and unfortunately, the driver of the Proton Wira died at the scene.” said Superintendent Sharif Shai in a media statement released this afternoon.

The victim’s 33-year-old fiancée, who was traveling with him, sustained serious injuries in the crash. She was rushed to Muadzam Shah Hospital, where she remains in critical condition and is currently receiving intensive medical treatment. The 53-year-old lorry driver involved in the accident escaped unhurt and is cooperating with authorities as part of the ongoing investigation.

On top of that, the deceased’s body has been taken to the Muadzam Shah Hospital for a post-mortem, which is standard procedure in fatal traffic cases. Police are currently investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death. If convicted, offenders may face imprisonment, fines or both.

Authorities are reminding all road users to exercise caution and strictly adhere to traffic regulations, especially at junctions and intersections where right-of-way rules are critical for safety. This incident adds to the growing concern over the number of fatal road accidents in the country and highlights the ongoing need for improved road awareness and responsible driving.

There have been a lot more accidents happening recently involving heavy vehicles like lorries, buses and vans and while on the surface it may seem that the drivers of these heavy vehicles are to blame, this is not always the case as it appears in this accident for now. Either way, we here at DSF want to remind all our readers to always be safe.
