A Form One student, Nur Fatimatul Hawa Mohd Azaudin, 13, died after being hit by a SUV driven by a 57 year old teacher while wearing her shoes in front of a school mosque in Kota Bharu, around 1.30 pm, Sunday.
It is believed the driver un-intentionally pressed the accelerator while the vehicle was parked near the surau. Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The Ministry of Education is also conducting an internal review of school safety SOPs.
The victim was confirmed dead at the location from serious head injuries. Her brother was informed that the incident happened after the victim finished performing her Zohor prayers. A second student was also hit and suffered injuries.
The victim’s father was informed that his daughter from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tanjung Mas in Kota Bharu, Kelantan was dead on arrival at the hospital. It is understood that the car that hit the victim was parked near the mosque.



The victim’s body was taken to the University of Science Malaysia Specialist Hospital for autopsy before being buried in the Tanjong Mas Islamic Cemetery. Police confirmed the incident and investigation is ongoing.
