Ikram Malaysia is under investigation by MACC, but why was no one suspicious until now?

Ikram Malaysia, a non-govermental organization set up in 2009 with the purpose of developing a prosperous, just and compassionate society based on Islamic values and principles, is under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The MACC has arrested three of its members in connection to the misappropriation of RM230 million in zakat funds.
Ikram Malaysia‘s president, Badlishah Sham Baharin has pledged full cooperation with MACC and has relieved those involved of their duties. On the MACC’s part, 33 bank accounts containing approximately RM120 million have been frozen. They have have also seized 18 vehicles as well as other properties valued at RM11 million and to that we have to ask why wasn’t anyone suspicious of these three before? The most recent reports show that the vehicles alone were worth RM7 million.
Here’s a list of the vehicles seized and their prices when new according to NST. Mind you, some of these may have been purchased new or through a parallel importer. It’s also worth noting that an image we got showed a Mercedes-Benz cabriolet which isn’t listed here. It’s possible one of the S-Classes has been mislabeled. The image we were shown also contains a previous generation Macan, not the current gen electric model.

It’s really quite hilarious that an RM3,000 kapchai is on the same list as a million-Ringgit Range Rover. We have to ask why no one internally flagged the purchase of so many vehicles using company money until the damage was done.
