Proton adds a new Jade Green colour to the affordable e.MAS 5 EV.
PRO-NET, the new energy arm of PROTON, has achieved two major milestones at the Penang Autoshow 2026 with the debut of a new Jade Green exterior for the Proton e.MAS 5 and the first Northern Malaysian showcase of its Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform. These updates come as the brand reinforces its dominant position in the region’s rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
The Jade Green Debut and Northern Market Leadership
As Malaysia’s No. 1 EV model, the Proton e.MAS 5 has delivered over 8,000 units year-to-date in 2026. The introduction of the Jade Green colour aims to provide more personalization options for a vehicle that already commands significant interest.
- Regional Dominance: Proton e.MAS achieved a staggering 64.2% EV market share in Northern Malaysia year-to-date in March 2026.
- Strategic Growth: This growth is supported by a high proportion of landed residential properties in the region, which facilitates home-charging installation, alongside expanding public infrastructure.
- Visual Synergy: The Jade Green e.MAS 5 is showcased alongside the recently introduced Emerald Green Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV.
Inside the Technology: The GMA Platform Showcase
For the first time in Northern Malaysia, PRO-NET is offering a closer look at the GMA platform, the technological foundation for its entire electrified lineup.
- Advanced Engineering: The platform features a Highly Integrated Motor and high-strength steel construction.
- Performance and Safety: Engineered for flexibility and enhanced driving dynamics, the GMA platform is designed to make EV technology more accessible and understandable for conventional vehicle owners.
Test Drives and the “Golden Test Drive” Campaign
Visitors to the Penang Autoshow from 1 to 3 May 2026 can experience the full lineup, including the e.MAS 5, e.MAS 7, and e.MAS 7 PHEV, firsthand through on-site test drives.
To further incentivize adoption, the Proton e.MAS Golden Test Drive Campaign is currently running through 17 May 2026:
- Theme: “30 Gold Bars in 30 Days.”
- Prizes: A total of 30 units of 3g gold bars will be awarded over five weeks.
- How to Enter: Customers must visit a participating showroom, test drive any Proton e.MAS model, make a booking, and submit an entry form via their dealer.
