The BYD Atto 3, one of the best-selling electric vehicles in the country, has been given facelift in Malaysia for 2026.
About four years after the initial introduction of the BYD Atto 3 to Malaysia, we now get a major facelift for the 2026 model year. The BYD Atto 3 facelift was shown at the Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026 and it represents a major upgrade over the previous models as it features a massively upgraded battery and charging system, which bumps the DC fast charging speed up substantially. There are other substantial drivetrain changes that we will explain later on in this article. It’s also worth noting that, the all-new 2nd generation BYD Atto 3 has already been shown in China.
Two variants of the BYD Atto 3 facelift will be offered in Malaysia. The base model is now known as the Ultra and it comes with a 60.48kWh LFP Blade Battery able to deliver 480km of range (NEDC). This variant supports 110kW DC Fast charging and the power output of the front mounted electric motor is 150kW and 310Nm of torque, the same as it was on the outgoing model.
The Atto 3 Premium is quite a different story altogether. This variant comes with a larger 74.88kWh LFP Blade Battery capable of 600km of range (NEDC). Here, DC charging speeds have been increased to 220kW. More importantly, this variant is now rear-wheel driven with a rear-mounted electric motor capable of 230kW and 380Nm of torque. 0-100km/h takes just 5.5 seconds and the suspension has been upgraded to a Macpherson strut style dual-ball joint front and multi-link five link rear setup. This variant also comes with a 101L front trunk and a front far-side centre airbag. While both models have ADAS as standard, the Premium variant gets enhanced ADAS features as well as 4-way lumbar adjustment for the driver and 6-way power adjustment for the front passenger where the Ultra model only comes with 4-way power adjustment for the front passenger.
The BYD Atto 3 Ultra is priced at RM125,800 while the Premium model retails at RM138,800. There’s an exclusive launch package worth up to RM14,000 which consists of up to RM10,000 of overtrade for the first 500 customers PLUS a wall charger with standard installation OR a 6-years standard service package. The warranty package consists of a 6-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, an 8-year/160,000km drive unit warranty and an 8-year/160,000km high-voltage blade battery warranty.
