BMW M2 CS: High-Performance Special Edition Launches with 530 HP and Carbon Focus
BMW has officially unveiled the new M2 CS, a limited-run high-performance coupe designed to deliver track-day thrills while remaining road-legal and practical. Built at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico, the M2 CS will be available in key markets such as the United States, Germany, and China starting in late summer 2025. Pricing in Germany is set at €115,000, which converts to RM553,000 before duties and taxes but don’t expect it to be brought here officially.
At its core, the new BMW M2 CS is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, tuned to deliver 530 hp and 650 Nm of torque—50 hp and 50 Nm more than the standard M2. Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. This setup enables a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds, or 3.5 seconds with 1-foot rollout, and a top speed of 302 km/h.
A significant part of the CS upgrade is its lightweight construction. BMW has reduced overall weight by 30 kg through extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof, centre console, diffuser, and bonnet.
Standard forged M light-alloy wheels and a CFRP boot lid with ducktail spoiler also contribute to the M2 CS’s lighter profile.
Handling is further enhanced by a model-specific adaptive M chassis lowered by 8 mm and tuned for track performance. The car features upgraded suspension, steering, and braking systems, including an M Compound braking system as standard and optional M Carbon ceramic brakes. Custom M traction and stability control settings are included for precise on-track handling.
Visually, the M2 CS boasts distinctive CS-specific exterior components in exposed carbon, including a unique front splitter, blacked-out kidney grille, and M mirror caps. Customers can choose from four exterior colours, with standard 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged wheels in Gold Bronze and high-performance tyres.
Inside, the M2 CS maintains its motorsport ethos with M Carbon bucket seats in Merino leather, Alcantara trim, and a CS-specific Alcantara steering wheel. The centre console is CFRP, while ambient lighting and illuminated CS logos add flair.
The car comes equipped with BMW’s Operating System 8.5, accessed via a 14.9-inch control display and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and BMW’s Intelligent Personal Assistant are included.
As with previous CS models, the M2 CS will be produced in strictly limited numbers. With its blend of raw power, reduced weight, advanced aerodynamics, and motorsport-inspired tech, the M2 CS sets a new benchmark for the compact performance coupe segment.
