Chery Tiggo Cross Launched In Malaysia; Turbo & Hybrid Variants Available

The Chery Tiggo Cross is the most affordable product offered by the company in Malaysia yet.

Chery Malaysia has officially launched the Tiggo Cross, a new entry-level SUV poised to shake up the local B-segment crossover market after previewing the car at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. Revealed at an event in Kuala Lumpur today, the Tiggo Cross arrives in two variants — a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol model and a 1.5-litre Super Hybrid version — with both being locally assembled at Inokom’s Kulim plant.

Compact Dimensions, Big Ambitions

Slotting below the Omoda 5 in size, the Tiggo Cross is a modern evolution of the Tiggo 4, featuring a thoroughly updated exterior and interior. Measuring 4,318 mm long with a 2,610 mm wheelbase, it goes head-to-head with the Proton X50, Perodua Ativa, and Honda WR-V. A bold grille, slim LED headlamps, full-width taillights, and a reworked cabin mark the 2024 facelift as a major leap forward in design.

Turbo and Hybrid Powertrains

The 1.5T variant is powered by a 147 PS / 210 Nm four-cylinder turbo engine paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup promises a 0-100 km/h time of 10.3 seconds and fuel economy rated at 6.3L/100km.

Chery Super Hybrid Chery Life

The 1.5 Super Hybrid drops the turbocharger but adds two electric motors integrated into a Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT150). While the petrol engine alone makes 96 PS and 120 Nm, the electric motors contribute an additional 204 PS and 310 Nm, yielding impressive responsiveness and a claimed fuel economy of 5.4L/100km. It’s also quicker off the line, hitting 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.

The turbo variant rides on 18-inch wheels, gets six airbags, and includes core ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

The hybrid variant adds a seventh airbag, 17-inch wheels, gloss-finished steering buttons, and a more extensive ADAS suite, including traffic jam assist, emergency lane keeping, and rear cross traffic braking.
