Toyota Supra Driver Ends Up In The Longkang With No Injuries

Earlier circulating video shows Supra driver driving fast and furious in Gombak

Some have asked the question ‘who pays for the damaged guardrail’ after seeing the video on social media and these interesting pictures.

Well, we checked and it seems that any vehicle driver who hits any guardrail is typically responsible for the cost of the repairs and replacement.

Of course, the drivers liability insurance should cover. The Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) that maintains the guardrail will file a claim with the driver’s insurance company to get reimbursed for the damages. If the driver doesn’t have insurance or the insurance claim is denied, then the driver would be personally liable for the costs.

The driver (of this Toyota Supra) who caused the accident is responsible for the damage. The driver’s auto insurance company will likely cover the cost of the guardrail repair through the property damage liability portion of the policy.

The city, state, or county that owns the guardrail will attempt to recover the cost from the driver’s insurance.

If the driver has no insurance, the agency will still repair the guardrail but will try to collect the cost from the driver directly.

If the insurance company doesn’t pay or the driver has no insurance, the driver will receive the bill and be personally responsible for the costs.

If you are at fault, report the incident to your insurance company to file a claim for the damage you caused to the guardrail.

It is Important To Note

Guardrail safety is indeed crucial for preventing serious accidents and minimising the severity of collisions on our roads. They are essential components of roadside safety systems, and their effectiveness relies on proper design, installation, and maintenance.

Guardrails are designed to redirect vehicles that leave the travel lane, preventing them from hitting obstacles like trees, utility poles, bridge supports, or steep embankments.

By absorbing the vehicle’s kinetic energy and guiding it back towards the roadway at a shallow angle, guardrails help reduce the impact forces on both the vehicle and its occupants.

They create a physical barrier that can protect pedestrians on walkways, as well as adjacent property from errant vehicles.

They provide a visual cue for drivers, especially at night or in bad weather, delineating the edge of the road and potential hazards.
