Mazda 3 1.5L High Plus Enhanced For 2025: RM119K But Very Well Equipped

The Mazda3 1.5L has been enhanced by Bermaz and now is value-packed at just RM118,900.

Bermaz today launched the enhanced version of the Mazda 3 1.5L in both sedan and liftback form. The Mazda 3 1.5L Liftback is a personal favourite of mine, but it didn’t make a lot of sense back in 2019 when the car was priced close to RM140,000 with some key equipment missing. The new ‘enhanced’ model is a different story.

No Compromise On Equipment

The key takeaway is that you’re getting a very well-equipped model. The only thing you’ll miss is the sunroof, but most of us don’t even use that. The Mazda 3 1.5 now comes with a 7″ multi-info display, a 10.25″ infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB Type-C ports, 9 SRS airbags, and Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE ADAS Suite.

Burgundy interior of the Mazda 3 1.5 Liftback

This includes:

  • Adaptive Front-Lighting System
  • High Beam Control
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Lane Departure Warning System
  • Lane-Keep System
  • Driver Attention Alert
  • Front & Rear Smart Brake Support with Stop & Go
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control
  • Cruising & Traffic Support

The sedan variant comes with a black leather interior while the liftback comes with a burgundy interior. Colour options include Soul Red Crystal, Polymetal Grey, Jet Black, Platinum Quartz, Deep Crystal Blue, Machine Grey. The Mazda 3 is fully-imported from Japan.

My Preferred Mazda Petrol Engine

Many may have reservations about pairing a 1.5L non-turbocharged engine to a C-segment body, but having experienced this engine myself, I have to say it’s actually my favourite petrol motor by Mazda. The 2.0L, 2.5L and 2.5L Turbo all have their place, but none are quite as rev-happy as the 1.5L. It’s perfect in the Mazda MX-5 and in the Mazda 3, it makes for a sensational runabout – more engaging than anything else you can find in the price range. Doesn’t hurt that it’s efficient and only costs RM90 annually to run.

If you’re still after a 2.0L, the existing Mazda 3 2.0L is still available from RM165,000 with the Ignite Edition still around. We’re not sure why the price gap between the 1.5L and the 2.0L model is so large, but it may be down to the tax structure for higher displacement CBU vehicles.
