The Suzuki Fronx Hybrid enters the Malaysian market fully-imported from Indonesia.
Naza Eastern Motors, the sole distributor of Suzuki cars in Malaysia, has launched the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid today. This compact crossover hybrid arrives in our market fully imported from Indonesia with a price tag of RM147,888. That’s on-the-road pricing, excluding insurance.
At the launch, brand representatives talked at length about the concept of Sho-Sho-Kei-Tan-Bi, which was essentially about using less while preserving beauty in their products. One statistic that was quoted was about how Suzuki vehicles weigh a lot less than the average vehicle in each market, be it in India, Japan or Europe.
In the spirit of this lightweight philosophy, the Suzuki Fronx is built on the brand’s Heartech B lightweight platform. It has a length of 3,995mm, a width of 1,765mm and a height of 1,550mm with a wheelbase of 2,520mm and 170mm of ground clearance. The front suspension uses a MacPherson strut style while the rear features a torsion beam. There are disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.
Powering the Fronx is a 1.5L K15C 4-cylinder hybrid petrol engine. It sends 103PS and 138Nm of torque to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission (which has paddle shifters). The ‘hybrid’ element consists of a 12V Integrated Starter Generator and a 10A lithium ion battery. This compact electric element has an output of 22kW and 66Nm of torque but what it mostly does is power key electronic systems for enhanced performance.
In terms of design, it has a chrome-accent front grille, LED multi-reflector headlamps with daytime runing lights, wheelarch extensions, roof rails, skid plates and 16″ alloy wheels in black. Colour options are split between dual-tone and single tone. Dual tone options are:
- Rising Orange + Cool Black
- Savanna Ivory + Cool Black
- Ice Grayish Blue + Cool Black
Single tone options include:
- Pearl Mellow Deep Red
- Cool Black
- Pearl Snow White
- Magma Gray
The cabin is simple with enough amenities for 2025, though only just about. There’s a 9″ infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, plus a 360-degree camera system for parking. You also get a heads-up display and a wireless charging pad.
The interior features a mix of fabric and leather upholstery with a dual tone colour scheme. The three-spoke leather steering wheel has tilt and telescopic adjustment. The boot gives you 308L of cargo space and the rear seats can be folded down for more room.
The Suzuki Fronx was recently put through ASEAN NCAP certification where it scored the maximum 5 stars. It comes with 6 airbags, hill hold control, and dual sensor brake support II (DBSS II) as well as a comprehensive ADAS suite, which includes:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
- Lane Departure Prevention (LDP)
- Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Vehicle Sway Warning
- High Beam Assist (HBA)
The vehicle comes with a 3-year/100,000km warranty while the battery comes with a 5-year/100,000km warranty. Those who book the car before the end of 2025 can choose either an RM4,000 rebate or a free Suzuki Genuine Accessory package which includes a multi-roof rack, a roof basket and door visors.
