BYD Dynasty Moves Upmarket: Official Camouflaged Images of the Great Han Sedan Revealed

The BYD Great Han flagship Dynasty series sedan is being prepared for launch in China.

BYD is preparing to introduce new crowning flagships to its premium Dynasty vehicle division. Historically anchored by the well-known Han sedans and Tang SUVs, the lineup is aggressively climbing the luxury ladder. Following the recent rollout of the volume-focused Han L and Tang L variants—which debuted alongside the brand’s first Megawatt-charging technology—BYD is now transitioning into the larger, elite D-segment territory.

While the affordable Ocean lineup continues to cater to mass-market buyers, the Dynasty family is pushing deeper into high-end executive spaces. Lu Tian, General Manager of the sales division for BYD’s Dynasty lineup, has officially shared the first factory images of the incoming flagship sedan, designated as the BYD Great Han.

A Smooth, Elongated Design Profile

Although the newly released images show the vehicle wrapped in camouflage tape, the overall silhouette and physical proportions are clearly visible. Compared to the existing Han and Han L models, the Great Han adopts a noticeably elongated, stately wheelbase.

Key exterior design features include:

  • Expanded Glasshouse: A significantly larger glass area stretching elegantly between the B- and D-pillars.
  • Sportback Silhouette: A sleek, sloping rear roofline that points strongly toward a practical liftback tailgate design.
  • Stately Stance: Proportions engineered to deliver a commanding physical road presence.

Triple-Screen Interior and Shared Architecture

According to industry insights, the cabin layout of the Great Han sedan will borrow heavily from its high-riding sibling, the Great Tang SUV. Drivers can expect a highly digitized, screen-heavy dashboard configuration. The premium HMI ecosystem will be driven by a triple-display array, consisting of an independent digital instrument panel, a dominant central infotainment touch hub, and a dedicated entertainment display directly in front of the passenger.

Next-Gen Blade Battery and Powertrain Variants

To match its flagship positioning, the Great Han will utilize BYD’s highly anticipated, next-generation Blade battery architecture. The vehicle will also launch with the brand’s specialized Flash ultra-fast-charging technology to facilitate rapid energy replenishment on the go.

The premium sedan will be split across two primary mechanical configurations:

  1. Pure Electric (BEV): Zero-emission, battery-powered drivetrains.
  2. Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV): Dual-motor, fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid architectures.

Preliminary specifications indicate that the vehicle will be offered as a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) option in the Exclusive trim level, or a maximum-performance all-wheel-drive (AWD) model in the top-tier Flagship trim.

How the “Great Han” Got Its Name

While the name feels entirely natural next to the rest of the family tree, it was actually selected directly by automotive enthusiasts. Lu Tian initiated a widespread social media campaign, inviting the brand’s fan base to vote on the official title of the D-segment flagship.

BYD Great Han

Among the brainstormed candidates were Han 9, Han Ultra, Han Tianxia, Xiaohan, and Han Chitu. Ultimately, the Great Han moniker won by an overwhelming majority, matching the naming scheme of the Great Tang SUV which is scheduled to make its official commercial debut on June 17.
