Car Crashes Into Yishun HDB Void Deck Before Driver Flees

So, how did this accident happen? Was the driver under the influence or?

The incident occurred on the evening of 6 June at Block 150 Yishun Street 11. According to the police, officers received a call for assistance at around 6pm after a vehicle reportedly struck a parked car before crashing into the void deck of the housing block.

By the time officers arrived, the driver had already left the scene.

Police investigations later led officers to a nearby unit at Block 153 Yishun Street 11, where a 32-year-old man believed to be the driver had allegedly locked himself inside.

Photos and videos circulating online showed police vehicles and emergency responders gathered around the area as authorities attempted to resolve the situation.

Special Operations Officers were deployed to the scene. As authorities assessed that the man could pose a danger to himself, specialised units were activated to assist.

Officers from the Singapore Police Force’s Special Operations Command and Crisis Negotiation Unit were deployed alongside personnel from the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

The standoff lasted for several hours before officers successfully gained entry into the residential unit at approximately 11:30pm. No injuries were reported during the operation. Authorities confirmed that the suspected have been referred to the CNB for further investigation.

Investigations are ongoing. Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash or whether any charges have been formally filed.
