Again this year, Continental products came out of the season’s first summer tire tests with flying colors. The ContiPremiumContact 2 performed far better than the runner-up in the test carried out by Auto Club Europa and GTÜ (Gesellschaft für Technische Überwachung). Volume 2/11 of the ACE’s magazine Lenkrad published the results. In its test, German Auto Zeitung (Vol. 5/11) awarded the proven ContiSportContact 3 the rating “highly recommended”.
The two special-interest mags focused on two distinct groups of tires. The ACE mag looked at size 205/55 R 16. It equips mainly compact and standard-size cars. Auto-Zeitung, on the other hand, checked out size 225/45 R 17. Largely cars with powerful engines and high handling demands sport this size. The upshot of the ACE test: The ContiPremiumContact 2 performed best on wet roads. It also stops a car best on dry roads. In the Lenkrad report, the test car fitted with Continental tires came to a halt three meters sooner than the second-place car. Here as well, low rolling resistance was at odds with safe tire properties. Auto Zeitung noted that the tried-and-tested ContiSportContact 3’s “brisk lap times prove that the Continental is a good choice”.
The ACE test covered seven tires. Two of them received a score of “highly recommended”. Auto Zeitung’s test graded a total of 14 summer tires. Eight of these products managed to scale the “highly recommended” hurdle.
