Westfield Sports Cars Come To Malaysia. Start Racing From RM180,000

Westfield might not be a household name in this region as a sports car brand. But in Europe, especially United Kingdom where it originates from, Westfield is a desired product for its adrenaline rush exhilaration and all out fun in the seat of your pants driving experience. This stripped out open wheel roadster is now available for sale in Malaysia from HICOM-Potenza Sports Cars Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad. They are the official dealer of Westfield Sports Cars in Malaysia and also the Asia Pacific Region.
Westfield cars are inspired by the legendary Colin Chapman, the man behind the world famous Lotus brand. Westfield cars are a remake of the Lotus Seven sports car which Colin Chapman made famous. Westfield cars is the brainchild of former racing driver Chris Smith from the early 1980’s. It started as a project race car for an American businessman and now it is globally famous.

It was only in 1988 that a ready for sale open two-seater Westfield car with basic creature comforts and weather equipment was made ready for sale. To ensure there was no legal issues with Lotus, the Westfield cars received an independent rear suspension on a double triangular wishbone. Using a wide choice of engines to cater for various customer needs Westfield sales grew over the years. To reduce the base price of the cars, Westfield offers the car with the cheapest and most reliable four-cylinder Ford Zetec engine and there is also a turbo ECOTEC engine. The Ford powered Westfield sells for RM180,000 and the Turbo powered ECOTEC car pricing is still pending approval. HICOM-Potenza Sports Cars is also starting a one make race series where owners will be able to just arrive, drive and leave with no worries. All maintenance and storage will be done by HICOM-Potenza Sports Cars. This will cost RM75,000 for 5 races a year. For the remainder of 2012 there a 2 races and the cost is just RM25,000 for both races. If you buy the car outright for RM180,000 then the costs of racing is included (RM180,000 minus RM75,000 which brings the rice of the Ford ppowered Westfield to just RM105,000). The program is similar to a lot of other luxury sports cars brands that have gentleman racing programs. This is the cheapest and probably the most fun to start with here in Malaysia. There is only 1 sales outlet for now, at Wisma DRB-Hicom in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. You can email them at [email protected] or visit the website www.hicom-potenza.com.my
