Maserati Quattroporte 6th Generation Launched

This is the 6th generation Quattroporte that will be put against German premium rivals like the Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S-class or BMW 7-series. Maserati will roll out the Quattroporte in Europe in February 2013 and it will come to Asia (Naza Italia) in March 2013. Maserati completely re-engineered the Quattroporte, the pioneer model of the carmaker for its bid to increase its global sales eightfold by 2015. Maserati lengthened the 6th generation Quattroporte by around 200mm to 5263mm to better compete with chauffeur-driven, long-wheelbase versions of German carmakers’ flagships, which have been dominant in the Chinese market.

The new Quattroporte is larger, offers more room and boasts of almost 20 percent more luggage space than its predecessor, adding that the premium sedan is also sportier and more environmentally friendly. The top-of-the-range Quattroporte boasts of a maximum speed of 307kph, making it the fastest sedan available today.

Fiat Group is pouring over EUR1.2 billion in its sports car unit to try to spike sales to around 50,000 vehicles a year by 2015. Maserati sold 6,159 sports cars around the world in 2011, and expects to post a similar figure for this year. Maserati is confident it can achieve its 2015 sales goal despite the vehicle sales slump in Europe, which is expected to continue in 2013 and beyond.
