BMW Malaysia launches all-new BMW 1 Series From RM170,800.00
BMW has introduced the all- new BMW 1 Series to the Malaysian market, offering customers a unique balance between sporty flair, premium ride comfort and incomparable efficiency in the form of the BMW 125i Sport, BMW 125i M Sport, and the locally assembled BMW 116i, BMW 118i Sport as well as the BMW 118i Urban.
Design: Premium elegance, sophisticated sportiness.
The all-new BMW 1 Series has been redeveloped from the ground up as its dimensions are 4.32m longer and 1.77m wider than its predecessor, providing an impressive feeling of space for drivers and passengers, whilst also offering a more sophisticated and powerful appearance from the rear. It also features XENON headlights and front indicators that are positioned inside the inner light rings of the twin headlights.
Best in class handling, steering and comfort.
The all-new BMW 1 Series now comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission which is unique and unmatched in its class. Driver comfort also plays a vital role, and the all-new BMW 1 Series successfully achieves this without losing its renowned agility and sportiness through its unique rear-wheel drive which is balanced by a 50/50 front-rear weight distribution, unaffected torque steer and powerful suspension design.
BMW TwinPower Turbo: Engines which set standards.
Under the hood of the all-new BMW 1 Series are new power plants with significant improvements, courtesy of new generation four cylinder petrol engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and additional BMW EffiicientDynamics features as standard. A combination of twin-scroll turbocharger, Valvetronic, Double VANOS and High Precision Injection further consolidates the position of the all-new BMW 1 Series as the sportiest and most efficient vehicle in its segment.
The locally assembled BMW 116i, BMW 118i Sport and BMW 118i Urban are equipped with a new 1.6 litre petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology which enables the BMW 116i to churn out a maximum output of 100 kW/136 hp from its 1,598 cc capacity engine at 4,400 rpm. Its torque peaks at 220Nm at 1,350 rpm and maintains it to 4,400 rpm. The BMW 116i is able to sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds with a top speed of 210km/h and with a fuel savings of 5.8 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions of only 134 grams per km.
The BMW 118i Sport and BMW 118i Urban on the other hand, boasts 125kW/170hp from the same 1,598 cc capacity engine at 4,800 rpm, with a peak torque of 250Nm at 1,500 rpm, and is able to reach a maximum of 4,500 rpm. The engine achieves acceleration from 0-100km in 7.2 seconds with a top speed of 222km/h, and records fuel savings at 5.8 litres per 100km with CO2 emissions of a mere 134 grams per km.
For the BMW 125i Sport and BMW 125 M Sport, the 2.0 litre BMW power plant produces a maximum output of 160 kW/218 hp from its 1,997 cc capacity power plant at 5,000 rpm. The petrol unit drums up a peak torque of 310Nm at just 1,350 rpm and maintains it all the way to 4,800 rpm. The powerful engine sprints from 0 -100km/h in 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 243 km/h, and CO2 emissions of 148 grams per km.
Reaffirming BMW’s key qualities as leaders in innovation, the all-new BMW 1 Series features the latest BMW EfficientDynamics technologies which enables the premium automaker to be a leader in efficient motoring. Added features include Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start/Stop function, as well as ECO PRO mode as part of its driving experience control options. The all-new BMW 1 Series also features Park Distance Control in the rear which makes entering or leaving the tightest parking space much easier as an acoustic warning signal lets you know how close you are to the car or object behind you.
BMW Lines: A radically new approach for customization
The BMW 116i is equipped with 17” Y-spoke light-alloy wheels which enhance its sporty character, while Satin silver matt interior trims, leather steering wheel and Move upholstery highlight the dynamic elegance of the car.
The BMW 118i meanwhile, features the all-new BMW Urban line which exudes sophistication as its sets itself apart with exterior trims in Alpine White, while 17” V-spoke light-alloy wheels further accentuates its striking character. High-gloss black trims with Oxide Silver matt highlights and a sports leather steering wheel coupled with cloth/leather with Metro Silver/ Black upholstery further complement the stylish and trendy interior of the vehicle.
Featured as a standard for the BMW 125i and BMW 118i, the Sport Line is aimed primarily at active drivers focusing on the dynamic appeal of their vehicle as it emphasises the agile character of the all-new BMW 1 Series. Its exterior rims comprise of high-gloss black kidney grilles, air inlets and side window frames which underscore a more vibrant and athletic appeal, and the car’s sporty character is further enhanced with the presence of 17” Star-spoke style light-alloy wheels. Interior wise, the characteristics of the Sport Line is emphasized with high-gloss black interior trims with highlight trim finishers in Coral Red Matt, along with the presence of a sports leather steering wheel with multifunctional buttons. Anthracite with red highlight upholstery emphasizes its sporty and elegant appearance.
The BMW 125i M Sport’s distinctive exterior elements are the M sport suspension, and 18” M style Star-spoke light-alloy wheels which complete the distinguished dynamic exterior personality of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the M Sport leather steering wheel sits on the dashboard layered with the exclusive M Estoril Blue matt and aluminium hexagon interior trim with Alcantara Antharacite upholstery highlighting the muscular yet stylish aesthetics of the car’s interior.
To further increase the impressive performance of the all-new BMW 1 Series, drivers have the option to upgrade to the BMW M Performance package which brings BMW’s unique motorsport expertise and knowledge to the streets. Offering maximum driving dynamics with breath-taking motorsport sensation, its exterior elements comprise of 19” BMW M Performance Double-spoke light alloy wheels with four-colour M logo, BMW M Performance rear spoilers and fins, and BMW M Performance top stripes on the bonnet, roof and rear in a choice of black or white.
Enhancing the all-new BMW 1 Series’ sporty interior, the BMW M Performance package includes an Alcantara steering wheel with carbon trims and race display with integrated race computer, and a BMW M Performance carbon gearshift lever with Alcantara gaiter. Coupled with the BMW M Performance pedal covers and footrest in stainless steel, drivers get to experience an incomparable drive and sporty expression in the all new BMW 1 Series. The BMW M Performance package is priced based on the choice of add-ons to the all-new BMW 1 Series.
BMW Connected Drive: Everything within view, in arm’s reach.
The ergonomic cockpit design of the all-new BMW 1 Series is complimented by the freestanding Control Display and the iDrive operating system. BMW ConnectedDrive offers in-car vehicle connectivity which provides owners with complete USB and Bluetooth features to expand functionality for mobile phones and audio streaming, as well as BMW Live- a valuable web-based mobility services which is accessed via smartphone. BMW Apps can also be accessed via a menu through a smartphone which provides direct connection to web radio, Facebook and Twitter.
The all-new BMW 1 Series also comes equipped with BMW Radio Professional with a 6.5” monitor, while the BMW 125i Sport and BMW 125i M Sport includes a HiFi loudspeaker system with 7 speakers, allowing true sheer driving pleasure to be experienced by the driver. An exclusive feature for the BMW 125i M Sport is the BMW Navigation System Professional which comes with a glossy 8.8” monitor.
Colours available for the BMW 116i and BMW 118i Sport include Alpine White, Mineral Grey, Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver and Crimson Red. For the BMW 118i Urban, additional colours are Midnight Blue and Sparkling Bronze.
For the BMW 125i Sport and BMW 125i M Sport, colours available are Alpine White, Mineral Grey, Glacier Silver and Crimson Red. Meanwhile, Estoril Blue is an exclusive colour addition for the BMW 125i M Sport.
The all-new BMW 1 Series will also benefit from specially tailored financial packages courtesy of BMW Credit Malaysia. The Step Up Financing programs offer monthly loan repayment schemes that begin from as low as RM 1600 for the BMW 116i, RM 1800 for the BMW 118i, RM 2, 200 for the BMW 125i Sport and RM 2, 400 for the BMW 125i M.
All variants of the all- new BMW 1 Series except the BMW 116i include the BMW Service and Repair Inclusive (BS+RI) service program.
