1Land Rover Defender Takes You Just About Anywhere
Land Rover designers wanted to change the looks of the Defender as little as possible as they wanted to help keep its classic appearance. While the rugged, boxy and tough appearance of the vehicle will appeal to some, many will consider the current Land Rover Defender to look out of place in today’s world. This could of course be the intention of Land Rover, as the Defender is a classic and you do have to ask if it should have to confirm to expectations.
The vehicle has a ladder frame chassis and live beam axels, the current Land Rover Defender is a truck underneath the exterior and the handling is crude. The vehicle rolls a great deal on the road and while it has grip that is stronger than you would think, the steering is vague and very slow. Off road the current Land Rover Defender comes into its own and it is invincible. Ground clearance is lofty, there is permanent four wheel drive, dual range transfer box, centre differential that is lockable and there are approach/departure angles that allow drivers to beat even the most extreme terrains.
You don’t know the meaning of the word bumpy ride until you have taken a ride in the 2010 Land Rover Defender. Having said that…you don’t know the meaning of ‘go just about anywhere’ until you drive a Defender off road.
