1Mitsubishi Attrage officially launched in Malaysia From RM59,215.50
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has just launched the new Mitsubishi Attrage. The Mitsubishi Attrage is Malaysia’s first B-segment eco-sedan in the market. “The new Mitsubishi Attrage is set to build on the success we have had with the Mitsubishi Mirage compact sedan that was launched a year ago, and will also bring us into a new segment for Mitsubishi in Malaysia. Developed with the concept of “Stylish Eco Sedan” in mind, the new Attrage is a B-segment sedan that provides outstanding fuel-efficiency, in a stylish and spacious sedan body without compromising on driving pleasure,” said Tetsuya Oda, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.The “Stylish Eco Sedan” boasts superior best-in-class fuel-efficiency at 21 km/l*
*In-house measurement data based on New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Actual range and fuel consumption may vary depending on driving patterns.
Powered by a modern and lightweight 1.2-litre engine with 80 PS and 106 Nm of torque, the three-cylinder MIVEC unit is paired to either a five-speed manual transmission or the smooth and efficient INVECS-III Continuously Variable Transmission.
The Mitsubishi Attrage starts from an attractive introductory price of RM59,212.50 for the GL (MT). The GS CVT is priced at RM67,978.50, while the top of the range Attrage SE costs RM 75,796.50. All prices are on-the-road without insurance.
The Attrage comes with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first. Available in three variants, GL (MT), GS and SE, the Attrage is equipped with premium features usually associated with cars from a segment above. Dual-airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), 15-inch wheels and fog lamps are standard across all variants.
The Attrage GS adds on Smart Key (keyless entry) and push start, remote trunk release, digital automatic air-con and leather wrapped steering wheel for a touch of luxury.
The range topping SE builds on this with equipment such as LED daytime running lights, a sporty bodykit, security window film, leather seats and a 2-DIN audio head unit with reverse camera. Five exterior body colours are available for the fully imported Attrage, and they are Eisen Grey Mica, White Pearl, Cool Silver Metallic, Red Metallic and Cerulean Blue Mica.
The efficiency of the drivetrain combines with optimised aerodynamics (low coefficient drag of 0.29) and reduced rolling resistance to achieve superior fuel economy. In addition, weight has been reduced via the increased usage of high-tensile steel in the structure. The Attrage comes with a lightweight of 875kg for the MT and 905kg for the CVT.
The Attrage, with its compact body size and best-in-class 4.8-metre turning radius, is agile and easy to manoeuvre, making it right at home in the city. Thanks to premium yet affordable packaging, the compact body masks a spacious cabin that is among the largest in its class.
“The Attrage was introduced in Thailand earlier this year, and in the 4 months that it has been on the market, close to 10,000 units have been sold, a very encouraging number in a very competitive segment,” Oda added.
MMM aims to sell 500 units per month.
The company is on target to achieve its yearly sales target of 15,000 units in 2013, for a market share of 4.9% in the non-national segment. (Financial Year April 2013- March 2014).
Last year (Financial Year April 2012-March 2013), Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia sold 12,600 units, with the market share of 4.0% in the non-national segment, and top 5 non-national brand in the segment.
To date, Mitsubishi Motors operates 58 showrooms (out of which 40 are 3S Centres) and 47 service outlets throughout Malaysia. MMM plans to open another 3 more showrooms by end of Financial Year (April 2013-March 2014). Also present to officiate the launch was also Morikazu Chokki, Senior Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) Japan.
