MICHELIN delivers greater peace of mind to the transport and trucking sectors in Malaysia with the launch of two new high performance tyres – MICHELIN X Works Z, an all-terrain tyre designed for mixed usage on roads, in and around construction sites and quarries, and MICHELIN X Line Energy Z, a highway truck tyre designed for use on highways and other major roads. To meet the need for tyres that are longer lasting, safe and reliable, the new MICHELIN X Works Z features new tread design that givesa uniform footprint and more even wear and thus longer tyre life, as well as a more open and wider grooves that gives better lateral grip and water evacuation for a safe and improved performance on and off the road.

Due to its robustness, the MICHELIN X Works Z tyres deliver heightened resistance to cuts and scrapes due to its anti-cut and chip tread compound and has more robust crown architecture to resist crown impacts and thus improving its reliability and provide better casing value for retreads. The MICHELIN X Works Z also has an improved load carrying capacity and has been designed to carry up to 7.1 tonnes per axle in single fitment, and up to 13 tonnes per axle in dual fitment.

“Michelin tyres offer superior performance for off-road transportation and heavy-load carrying. MICHELIN X Works Z gives us the lowest cost per kilometre and excellent constructed casings to take the punches from rough daily operation,” said Beltran Yturriaga, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia Sdn Bhd at the launch of the tyres here today.

The other new innovative tyre launched today, the MICHELIN X Line Energy Z, is specially designed for long-haul transport companies and addresses the challenges faced in long-haul transportation by providing long tyre life, high degree of fuel efficiency and enhanced safety and reliability. The new MICHELIN X Line Energy Z is engineered to provide maximum optimisation of rolling resistance for a significant reduction in fuel consumption. With low rolling resistance technology, MICHELIN X Line Energy Z tyres can save fleets up to 515 litres of fuel over 130,000 km which equals to the reduction of 1,371kg of harmful carbon dioxide emissions.

“MICHELIN X Line Energy Z also provides up to 20% longer tread life which helps our customers gain optimal performance and lower costs of operation from their tyres. This is in addition to the high mileage and renowned reliability of MICHELIN premium tyres,” said Beltran.

According to Beltran, the X Line Energy Z will meet the needs of customers looking to maximize the value of their tyre through long first life mileage, multiple retreads and fuel savings.

“We understand that vehicles need a high performance tyre which can carry the increased axle load, and the launch of MICHELIN X Line Energy Z enables fleets to unlock potentially significant fuel savings from the latest long-distance Michelin tyres.

“When designing new tyres, in Michelin always incorporates its product design philosophy called the Michelin Total Performance, focusing on bringing more performances and benefits together for our customers in every tyre. The launch of the two tyres represents a holistic approach from Michelin to fulfil our customers’ requirements from MICHELIN tyres that result in increased productivity and ultimately provide sustainable competitive advantage,” Beltran added.

MICHELIN X Works Z and MICHELIN X Line Energy Z all position tubeless tyres will be available in 295/80 R22.5 size from September 2014.
