0HAMANN Tunes The BMW X6
Although not having a jet engine like the F16 fighter jet, it definitely has what it takes to be a real high-flyer: the potent interpretation of the brawny BMW X6 F16 by premium tuner Hamann from Swabian Laupheim. In Geneva, with both audience and press, the vehicle will activate the deceleration parachute, just as perfect is the classic combination of breath-taking body kit, potent power advancement and strong wheel/tyre combination.
The standard BMW X6 already offers top-class, convincing road performance. However, following its tradition, premium tuner Hamann steps up a gear. The model based on the M50D, which Hamann showcases in Geneva, impresses with a power advancement to 462 hp (340 kW) at 4 400 rpm. Not only the “power infusion” of 79 hp, but also the maximum torque entails “danger of addiction”: brute 890 Nm instead of the standard 740 Nm at 2 000–3 000 rpm already.
Bonnet with visible carbon fibre and power dome
Hamann has always acted on the maxim that such an addictive output curve cannot stand alone. Hence, the car refiner gave its X6 F16 design wings: entirely in the company’s style the X6’s brawny and impressive appearance got the distinctive Hamann touch with a complete wide-body kit. The carbon bonnet in car body colour catches the eye; the purposeful beads ensnare the raised “power dome”, which gives an idea of what makes this car so special.
From there, the gaze wanders downwards to the “BMW’s kidney” and the completely redesigned one-piece front bearing Hamann’s signature. The bumper comes with a front skirt reaching far down, skilfully hiding the technical equipment behind and creating space for individual fibre-optic daytime running lamps. On the sides, Hamann adds some individualisation with exclusively manufactured wings perfectly nestling to the standard body. Towards the front door, the angular contours open up into filigree air intakes leaving no doubt about the claim of being anything but ordinary. The emotional curves of the wings make the X6 F16 grow by twelve centimetres in width and set the perfect stage for the well-dimensioned wheel/tyre combination.
Elegantly shaped door panels and side skirts continue the front wings’ lines to the rear wheel houses. The vehicle’s side face is concluded by a rear that leaves a lasting impression in terms of exclusivity: it is an imposing stage for the sports exhaust system, which produces an exceptional triad. The three tailpipes positioned in the middle are crowned by specially profiled trims that are made of aluminium and milled in one piece. Hidden behind is a high-grade stainless-steel sports exhaust system being a real joy for sound enthusiasts.
First-class alignment of wheels, tyres and suspension
Leading part in terms of design and driving dynamics are the 23-inch light-alloy “Anniversary Evo” rims available in black, silver, and hyper black which comes with a noble black/silver lustre. Hamann wraps the one-piece high-quality rim in multi-spoke design with 315/25 R23 Pirelli high-performance Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, which fulfil 100 per cent of the refiner’s requirements. RDK sensors are a matter of course. Hamann further upgrades driving dynamics and look by combining the wheels with sport springs, which are perfectly aligned to the crossover’s axle load and high performance level. The springs lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity by 45 mm on the front and by 30 mm on the rear axle.
Hamann is also just the right place for those seeking the exclusive touch in the interior. Sport pedals and high-quality applications customise the cockpit, headrests and foot spaces. A neat detail are the car door LED welcome lights projecting the Hamann logo on the floor – understatement at its best.
The company from Laupheim has carefully combined the different modules to achieve a perfectly concerted X6 F16 kit. However, the individual components can also be purchased separately. Hamann refines the cars at its headquarters in Laupheim as well as at international partner sites.
