Roadstar Racing Team Returns to TCR Asia Series in Singapore

After a solid start to the TCR Asia Series in Malaysia just two weeks ago, the Roadstar Racing Team will return to action this weekend on the streets of Singapore, as part of the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix program. Joining the TCR International Series for the first of three events back in Asia to close out both championships, the Roadstar team will again field a three-car entry, although this time there will be a change to the driver lineup with Japan’s final race podium placegetter Masahiko Ida replaced by experienced Taiwanese driver George Chou.

Chou is no stranger to top level competition in Asia, having contested a variety of championships over the years, including almost every category of sportscars in the region where he most notably ran at the front of the hotly contested GT Asia Series in 2014 in the GTM category.

Despite sitting out the opening round, Chou completed a number of shakedown laps of the #78 Taiwan Top Speed by Roadstar Seat León in Sepang beforeconcentrating his efforts on the GT Asia Series 3-Hour endurance race, however he has been back in the seat again since then, on a circuit with a
strong Formula One heritage.

Just days before arriving in Singapore, Chou was in Italy, turning laps at the famed Fiorano test track owned by Ferrari on behalf of the Top Speed Racing Team he operates in Taiwan. Whilst Chou will have an initiation of fire at Singapore, his team-mates, Hong Kong’s experienced Samson Chan, and Macau’s Felipe Souza already have three TCR Asia Series races under their belts with the pair currently tied for seventh in the points standings, two places behind Ida who scored an
impressive third in the final race at Sepang.

All the action will get underway at Singapore on Friday 18 September, with two scheduled official practice sessions ahead of qualifying and the opening race on Saturday, and two further ten lap races on Sunday.
