3,000 Peroduans Take Part in “National Sports Day”

Approximately 3,000 Perodua staff took part in the inaugural “National Sports Day”, an initiative under the Ministry of Youth and Sports to promote healthy living through sporting activities. In further support to this cause, Perodua has also contributed RM100,000 to the National Sports Council for the latter to carry out future activities in promoting a healthier Malaysia through sporting programmes.

The 3,000 participants were from various Perodua sales and service branches nationwide which organised a “body combat” session, which is an exercise programme based on martial arts techniques.

“Perodua has always promoted and incorporated a healthy lifestyle in our daily routine. We fully support this initiative and hope all Malaysians regardless of age and background to join in and be healthy,” Perodua President and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar also took part in the “body combat” exercise session, which was held at Perodua Sentral, Petaling Jaya. The National Sports Day is aimed at making Malaysia a “Sporting Nation” and will be an annual event, celebrated on the second weekend of October every year beginning this year.

“Aside from committing to this programme this year, Perodua and our partner Daihatsu Motor Corporation has incorporated the Japanese “Taiso” programme, which is a 15-minute stretching exercise routine at our headquarters before work.”

“This is to help keep our people alert while at the same time promote discipline at the work place,” Aminar said.

Perodua has approximately 10,500 staff nationwide, of which 7,500 is located at the company’s headquarters in Sungai Choh and the remaining 3,000 staff is located at its sales, service as well as Body and Paint hub nationwide.
