Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Sees Kujala, Schlegelmilch and Stepanov Bag Wins

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe Grand Finale at Sebring ended with two emotional races. One win each in Florida for the Finn Patrick Kujala, already crowned as the 2015 PRO Class Champion, and the Artline Team Georgia duo of Lithuanian Harald Schlegelmilch and the Russian Mikhail Stepanov, at their first win in the series.

Thanks to the two podium finishes seized along with new entry Riccardo Agostini, the Italian Loris Spinelli (Antonelli Motorsport) won the 2015 PRO-AM title with P1 and P2 finishes in class today. The AM title goes to the Georgian Shota Abkhazava, also racing with Artline Team Georgia as the Race Two winning pair. The Imperiale Racing duo made up of the Portuguese Carina Lima and the Italian Andrea Palma won the Gallardo AM Title.

Race One was unlucky for the Swiss Patric Niederhauser. He was first under the chequered flag but was later penalized for not respecting the mandatory pit stop window. In the last stages, the retirement of Mavlanov, who took over for Zampieri on the other Antonelli Motorsport car, brought out the safety car, which led the group until the chequered flag. The AM Class win was awarded to the X Bionic Racing Team pair of Laurent Jenny and Cedric Leimer. The Argentinian Andres Josephsohn and the Portorican Ricardo Vera seized the Gallardo Class.

Race Two witnessed the early retirement of Kujala, with all the cars behind the safety car for the pouring rain. The outcome was the same for Niederhauser (Raton Racing), who started from pole position and led the pack until the mandatory pit stop. Toward the end, the lead passed to Agostini, closely chased by the Mikko Eskelinen-Kelvin Snoeks Leipert Motorsport car. Then came the brilliant finale from Schegelmilch, who passed both rivals in the very last lap. Alberto Di Folco won the Pro Class. He managed an astonishing recovery from the back of the grid all the way up to sixth, right behind the pairs of Raffaele Giannoni and Andrea Montermini (Automobile Tricolore) and the Imperiale Racing dup of Giacomo Barri and Simone Pellegrinelli. The Jenny-Leimer duo granted a double in the AM Class while Ivan Benvenuti of Imperiale Racing won the Gallardo Class.

The two races today of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America were won by Madison Snow (La Jolla-BAD Lambo Racing) and by Beverly Hills-O’Gara Motorsport duo of Edoardo Piscopo and Richard Antinucci, with Antinucci taking the 2015 PRO-Am title.

The duo of Edoardo Liberati-Yuan Bo stormed the pack to win both races and the PRO-AM title in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia, which shares the racetrack with the European series.

All is set now for the World Final. Tomorrow it will be qualifying and Race One at 19.00 and 21.00 CET, respectively. All entrants will be divided into two groups, with PRO and PRO-Am drivers sharing the same grid as it will be for AM and Gallardo classes. All races will be live streamed on the Lamborghini Squadra Corse website http://squadracorse.lamborghini.com/en/live-world-final. Race 2 of both grids is set for Sunday.
