Lexus Malaysia Now Offers 5-Year Warranties to Current and Future Owners
Lexus Malaysia is pleased to announce that warranty coverage for all new Lexus vehicles registered from 1st April, 2016 will be increased to 5 years with unlimited mileage. This 5 years warranty is only applicable to vehicles imported and purchased from Lexus Malaysia or its authorised Lexus dealers.
For existing Lexus owners whose vehicles presently covered by the 3-year manufacturer’s warranty, Lexus Malaysia offers an extension to 5 years (with unlimited mileage) with a one-time-charge depending on the model. The extension will only be available from 1st April, 2016 until 30th September, 2016. Customers who sign up will receive a free Lexus service package.
The 5 years warranty conditions for new vehicle and extension for existing vehicle offered by Lexus Malaysia is identical throughout the entire period of coverage. This differs from some extended warranties in the market which have reduced coverage during the additional years as they are provided by third parties.
“Since being introduced in 1989, Lexus has had a strong reputation for the superior quality of all its vehicles. In fact, independent surveys have shown Lexus vehicles to have the highest quality standards in the industry, complemented by services that are also considered a benchmark,” said Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT).
“Now we are extending the warranty coverage to 5 years which demonstrates our great confidence in the build quality and reliability of Lexus vehicles as well as the advanced manufacturing processes at the Lexus factory in Japan,” he said.
He also stressed that the 5-year warranty is fully backed by Toyota Motor Corporation and UMWT. It is only available with vehicles that are distributed and purchased through Lexus Malaysia outlet or its authorised dealers in Malaysia.
“Vehicles brought in by parallel importers may or may not have warranty offered. Therefore it is always better to buy vehicles that are imported by an authorised distributor such as UMWT, where the vehicles are covered with a full 5 years warranty, giving customers a piece-of-mind,” Mr. Akio Takeyama added.
Datuk Ismet Suki, President of UMWT said, “By providing a longer warranty, we aim to enhance the value of Lexus vehicles as well as increase customer confidence in our products. Additionally, resale value can also be better as the warranty is transferable if it is still in effect”.
“Furthermore, with no limit on mileage, owners can enjoy the warranty coverage for the full 5 years,” he said, adding that it is also a way of showing appreciation to Lexus customers for their support.
As with all manufacturers’ warranties, owners must adhere to the scheduled service intervals which must be done at authorised Lexus service centres. It is also a condition of the warranty that use of non-genuine parts and technical alterations not authorised or approved by Lexus Malaysia will void the warranty.
Certain models may also have warranties covering specific items which are separate from the 5-year warranty. For example, the battery packs for Lexus hybrid models have an 8-year warranty period. Specific warranties are also provided for items such as tyres and batteries in all vehicles. Customers can obtain further information on the new extended warranty coverage at all Lexus showrooms.
