Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe at Paul Ricard with 47 Cars on Grid

The Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet is preparing to host, this weekend, the third of the six double rounds of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe. After the first two rounds, the one-make series of the company based in Sant’Agata Bolognese is ready to re-confirm a high level grid with 47 cars at the start, the same grid of the opening weekend at Monza.

Entertainment and maximum balance for the championship reserved to the Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, which reaches mid-season in France. Starting with the PRO class, with four crews enclosed in just eight points at the top of the standings and three different winners. After getting his first success in the second leg of the series at Silverstone with the colors of Imperiale Racing, Vito Postiglione is leading the standings. Three points behind follows the 23-year-old Dane Dennis Lind (Raton Racing), who won the race at Monza and arrived first again in Race 2 in England. Then there is the crew of Orange 1 Team Lazarus, formed by Nicola De Marco and Fabrizio Del Monte, who arrived, in their turn, first in Race 2 in their home track and are tied for third with the Croatian of Bonaldi Motorsport, Martin Kodric, aged 19.

But also the 2015 PRO-AM champion, Loris Spinelli and his teammate Enrico Fulgenzi might have their chance. After the second place obtained in Race 2 at Silverstone, they will share one of the cars of the team Antonelli Motorsport. But we should also keep an eye on the young Estonian of Artline Team Georgia, Harald Schlegelmilch (one pole position to his credit) and the former F.1 driver, Nicola Larini, who have always scored points with Petri Corse.

Three victories out of four races for Adrian Amstutz and Patrick Kujala, who are aiming at a “poker” of wins in the PRO-AM class. For the pairing of Bonaldi Motorsport, winning in France might give them the opportunity to enlarge the gap since they have 11 points of advantage in the championship over the duo of Konrad Motorsport, formed by Nicolas Armindo and Henry Hassid, who finished ahead of everyone in Race 2 at Monza. In search for redemption are the “under 20” of the team Antonelli Motorsport, Andrea Fontana and Lorenzo Veglia, who were not very lucky at Silverstone, just like Raffaele Giannoni (Automobile Tricolore) and Simone Pellegrinelli (Imperiale Racing). Instead, the duo of Raton Racing, formed by Sergio Campana and Dimitri Deverikos, got the third step of the podium in Race 2 at the English track and they are now determined to do well again.

The Dutchman, Rik Breukers, aged 17, is instead moved forward to PRO-AM class. With three victories to his credit (including the double victory achieved on British soil), the driver of GDL Racing is aiming high again. Right at Paul Ricard, the team of San Marino will line up a third car with the Singaporean Lim Keong Wee, who will join those of Bashar Mardini e Breukers himself. Second in the standings, 20 points behind the first, is Steve Tandy (Imperiale Racing).

In the Lamborghini Cup, Tim Richards (M-Tech) is leading the ranking with two wins to his credit and only two points of advantage over Gerard Van der Horst (Van der Horst Motorsport).

The event in Le Castellet is taking place on the same weekend of the prestigious 1000 Km of Ricard, belonging to Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup. Two free practice sessions of one hour each are scheduled on Friday. Two are also the qualifying sessions, both lasting fifteen minutes, with the green light in the pit lane starting from 9 o’clock. The first of the two 50-minute races is starting on Saturday at 14:30; Race 2 is instead scheduled on Sunday at 12:05 a.m..
