Five to represent Malaysia in World Amateur Golfers Championship

Five local amateur golfers will represent Malaysia in Durban, South Africa at the World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) from 22 October to 29 October 2016. (Tournament proper starts on 25 October). The golfers were the winners of the WAGC Malaysia tournament held from April 2016 to July 2016 where 5,000 amateur golfers from all over the country took part.

Of the 5,000, five came up tops. The five include En. Faridzuan Che Hamid (Category A), En. Rastam Ariffin (Category B), En. Mohd Fazli Ramlan (Category C), En. Azizul Borhan (Category D) and Mr. Gerald Jemandan (Category E).

The national amateur champions are now in Durban, South Africa to battle it out with 40 other countries to win the coveted World Amateur Golfers Championship.

“This event is attended by golf lovers from all over the world for a chance to win the title. This tournament is a true testament for the players because there is no prize money offered; only the chance to go against the best amateurs from across the planet,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, YBhg Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

Perodua is the title sponsor for The World Amateur Golfers Championship Malaysia since 2012 and the tournament is organised by Delta Trend & Leisure Holidays Sdn Bhd. The World Amateur Golfers Championship World Finals begins today (25 October 2016) and will conclude on Friday (28 October 2016) at Durban, South Africa.

“We wish our players good luck and we hope to take home the tile of World Amateur Golfers again this year,” Zahari said.

Last year, Malaysian amateur golfers won the title of World Amateur Golfers Championship Finals in Belek Antalya, Turkey.
