BMW Group Malaysia Launches New R nineT Range

Following the introduction of the BMW R nineT Scrambler in October 2016, BMW Group Malaysia continues to expand its heritage range with the launch of the new R nineT, R nineT Pure and R nineT Racer.

Embodying the essence of over 90 thrilling years of BMW Motorrad, the updated R nineT sums up the company’s illustrious past with a unique concept of pure riding pleasure with a classic, minimalist design, and a focus on technical essentials.

The R nineT epitomises casual elegance with a pared-down, back-to- essentials look. Combined with a small number of skilfully crafted components, it appears from every angle as a motorcycle with a mix of classic and modern styling themes with high-quality surface finishes.

In terms of new highlights, the R nineT features a new dual speed indicator and rational-speed sensor instrument with on-board computer. BMW Motorrad has also extended the design program of its Original BMW Motorrad Accessories to include the “Machined” range of customising parts for the R nineT.

Created in collaboration with Roland Sands, well-known customizer based in California, The optional parts available include cylinder head covers, headlight rig, engine cover, and handle bars.

Developed for purists, the R nineT Pure comes with fuel tank and front mudguard finished in Catalano Grey. A sense of sophisticated workmanship is reflected in the circular headlamp with sheet steel casing and the BMW emblem positioned centrally on the bulb cover.

In addition to that, the new roadster is also fitted with an LCD display that shows information such as time and trip distance as well as a circular speedometer with an analogue display and integrated indicator lamps.

Taking inspiration from the Concept Ninety motorcycle unveiled in 2013, the R nineT Racer is fitted with a short, frame-mounted half-fairing on the steering head. The motorcycle is finished in the colour Lightwhite, which appears on the fairing, fuel tank, front mudguard and seat hump.

The stainless-steel exhaust system with rear silencer positioned on the left-hand side is also a nod to cafe racers and roadsters of the 60s and 70s. As with the wheels, the new R NineT Racer comes with light alloy cast wheels, as do the R NineT Pure.

For further customisation, the new classic sports bike can opt for pillion frame, HP carbon parts for the tail cover, mudguard, cover intake snorkel, timing chain cover, and cylinder head cover and cover ignition key, navigation mounting, and more.

As for power, the R nineT retains the 1,170-cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine with an output of 110 hp and a maximum torque of 116 Nm, combined with a six-speed transmission. Both are designed to meet the requirements of the EU4 pollutant class, which involved equipping the motorcycle with a new engine mapping, a fuel system with carbon canister for fuel tank ventilation and an exhaust system with an altered catalytic converter that has a larger cross-section.

The retail price (without on the road expenses and inclusive of GST) for the new models start from RM82,900 for the R nineT Pure, RM88,900 for the R nineT Racer and RM101,900 for the R nineT. The motorcycles benefit from special financing programmes courtesy of BMW Credit Malaysia with monthly payments from RM1,490 for the R nineT, RM1,190 for the R nineT Pure and RM1,290 for the R nineT Racer. They will also be on display at the BMW Motorrad Nightfuel event on Saturday, 15 April 2017 from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the open car park opposite Pulp Coffee along Jalan Riong in Bangsar.
