Has BMW ‘killed’ the 6-Series Coupe? Or is it in retirement like before?

We have just learnt that BMW headquarters have actually stopped production of the 6-Series coupe (also the Gran Coupe) since early this year (February actually).

This 6-Series Coupe is however still on sale in some countries that have stock sitting in their showrooms.

The 6-Series Coupe started life in 1976 (known as the E24 and it was derived from the flagship 7-Series) and its success continued until 1989. Then BMW left the model idle until 2003 (some 14 years later) when they revived it with a few variants (convertible and 4-door) until this February. So, will the BMW 6-Series take another 14-year rest until BMW decides to revive again?
