What would the winners be for the www.dsf.my ‘Vehicle Of The Year’ 30 years ago in 1987?

In 7 days on the 12th of March 2017 we will be announcing the winners of the www.dsf.my – Allianz vehicle awards event. Before that let us travel back in time to the year 1987, some 30 years ago and look at what vehicles would have been the winners of each category if we had judged the awards then.

This might bring back memories for many of you and might be an eye opener for some others as the vehicles sold in Malaysia in the 1980’s were few and quite interesting.

Vehicle Of The Year 1987 – Toyota Corolla SE

Crossover of the year – Mitsubishi Delice L300 4×4

SUV of the year – Mitsubishi Pajero

Luxury Sedan of the year – Mercedes S-Class

Luxury MPV of the year – Renault Espace

Luxury Compact of the year – BMW M3

Luxury SUV of the year – Range Rover Classic

Hybrid of the year – Not invented yet

Sadly the Hybrid Car came a few years later and we could not award a winner in 1987 for this category. 

Compact car of the year – Mazda 323

Compact Sedan of the year – Nissan Bluebird

Compact MPV of the year – Toyota Masterace

Pickup Truck of the year – Datsun 1500 pickup

Executive Sedan of the year – Honda Accord

Supercar of the year – Ford Sierra Cosworth

Sports Car of the year – Porsche 944 Turbo

Vehicle Design – Honda CR-X

Interior Design – Alfa Romeo 164
