AIG Malaysia Have Paid Nearly RM300K to Flood-Affected Customers

Following massive flooding in Penang and Kedah last week, AIG Malaysia has processed and paid out interim payments to affected customers.

Close to RM300,000 during this exercise to help customers resume their businesses and lives and keep disruptions to a minimum.

AIG Malaysia received close to 70 claims applications from various industries including printing, art museums, electrical, textiles, engineering, precision fabrication, motorcycles and home furnishings.

AIG Malaysia CEO Antony Lee said this is part of AIG’s responsibility to its customers so that they are protected from catastrophes such as the recent flooding.

“It is in times like these that our customers need the assistance and we are echoing the general insurance industry’s and Bank Negara Malaysia’s initiatives to respond to these needs swiftly,” he said.

He added that it was imperative companies and businesses understand the importance of protecting themselves against such untoward incidents.

Out of a total of some 18,000 customers we have in these states, the claims were relatively low, which only goes to show how many were not protected against floods.”
