RX-7 based Le Mans Race Car Found After 35 Years
Renown website Japanese Nostalgic Car report that the last surviving 1982 Mazda 254i Le Mans racer has been rediscovered after being missing for three and a half decades.
This RX-7-based racer was one of two that competed in the 24 hour race all those years ago.
This 254i may have disappeared from records after being repurposed for All-Japan Sports Prototype racing.
It was at this time when its twin brother was totalled in a crash.
Don’t be saddened by the state they found it in as Mazda themselves are commissioning a restoration of the car. You can learn more about the Mazda 254i in this documentary:
