Continenal Opens Training Centre in Alor Setar

Continental Tyre Alor Setar (M) Sdn Bhd today officiated the opening of their first training centre. Measuring 140 square meters, the centre will ensure 655 training per year for approximately 730 shopfloor employees.

Continental in Alor Setar produces passenger and light truck tyres as well as two-wheel tyres for Continental in Malaysia and the APAC market. The plant produces since 1979 and employs over 1,000 workers.

The new training centre is a testimony towards Continental’s commitment to adapting to the contemporary requirements of sustainable development. The aim is to build an excellent workforce that produces high-quality products and to further enhance the employees’ knowledge and skills, to inspire and cultivate the right attitude towards safety, quality and efficiency.

The centre offers an effective and state-of-the-art computerized and manual training in a vocational skill and a tailor-made enrichment education. Quality topics are the top priority to ensure that their customers receive only the best of their products.

Carlos Bernabe, General Manager of the Continental’s tyres manufacturing plant in Alor Setar, said, “I have envisioned a place where our employees could come together and for continuous learning and knowledge sharing. With this investment we aim to ensure the long- term success of our tyre plant in Alor Setar.”

“Only with knowledge and know-how in advanced manufacturing technologies we will be able to keep our competitive position in our global manufacturing network and deliver best quality and performance tyres ‘Made in Alor Setar’. A sincere ‘thank you’ to all involved in this project,” he added.

The new training centre will also be used for onboarding and basic trainings, which extend a comprehensive overview for new employees.
