Geely Bo Yue PRO is the Most Intelligent, Connected SUV of its Generation

Bo Yue PRO represents a comprehensive upgrade from the original Bo Yue in terms of intelligence, design, and power

Geely’s newest and most intelligent SUV to date, the Bo Yue PRO (Proton X70 facelift when it arrives in Malaysia next year) was fully unveiled to the public at a design seminar in Hangzhou this week. This facelifted SUV will be equipped with the most advanced in car communication system to date when it arrives in Malaysia and it will be sitting in a Proton X70 SUV. The GKUI system will be even more advanced than the system sitting in the new range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles (Hi! Mercedes) and will have more commands and functions over the BMW system that is currently running in their latest 2019 models.

Proton and Geely will have a big edge with this latest in car communication system as Malaysians are tech crazy and to date almost all facelifted versions of Proton Iriz, Persona and Exora have seen good sales because of the installation and the current GKUI systems in the cabin.

A week prior, at the launch of the GKUI19Geely Smart Ecosystem and China’s first independently developed dedicatedvehicle chipset, the E01, the Bo Yue PRO was announced to be Geely’s firstmodel to receive the new hardware. The addition of the GKUI19 and E01 chipsethas essentially put a “super brain” into the Bo Yue SUV. To match its enhancedintelligence, comprehensive improvements to the original Bo Yue SUV have beenmade including power and design.

The intelligence upgrade has put the Bo YuePRO one step closer towards being a true mobile terminal envisioned in Geely’smobility ecosystem, in which vehicles become a third living space for itspassengers rather than just a mere tool of transportation. With the GKUI19empowered by its dedicated E01 chipset, the Bo Yue PRO transforms into a mobileentertainment system, a control hub for smart devices at home or in the office,a mobile phone, and a mobility service provider.

Speaking at the design seminar, head ofGeely Design China, Guy Burgoyne said “We had to go even further than theoriginal class-leading Bo Yue, which was known for the “three G’s”. Good touse, Good performance, and Good intelligence. The Bo Yue PRO has evolved in alldimensions, conveying greater confidence with an ever evolving design language. This new model is an upgrade in all aspects, confidently redefining the segmentfor a lifestyle inspired premium SUV.”

The Bo Yue PRO comes with either a 1.8TDturbo direct injection engine matched to a 7 speed wet dual clutch transmissionor a 1.5TD turbo direct injection engine matched to an Aisin 6-speed automatictransmission. Both powertrain combinations meet the stringent China National 6Bemission standards. The 1.8TD has been recalibrated from the previous versionused in the original Bo Yue to offer a maximum power of 135kW and max torque of300 N•m, an increase of 15 N•m. The 7DCT transmission has an efficiency of 97%,helping reduce fuel consumption by 1L per 100km over the original Bo Yue. The1.5TD engine was jointly developed by Geely and Volvo, offering a maximum powerof 130kW and max torque of 255 N•m.  TheAisin 6-speed automatic transmission is widely used in high-end modelsfeaturing fast shift response and reduced fuel consumption.

The Bo Yue PRO upgrade in technology is matchedwith a more mature design combining modern Chinese aesthetics with a technologyorientated approach.  The Bo Yue Pro’sfront fascia was given a more aggressive look with a raised hood and a morepronounced grill. Geely’s iconic Expanding Cosmos grille has grown larger, morepronounced, and impactful. The Expanding Cosmos grille is flanked byaccentuated deep-set intelligent LED headlamps. The signature “Leaping Cat”design influence seen in the original Bo Yue stance and proportion now holdsits head higher, prouder, more confident. Deep functioning air intakesstretches across the exaggerated horizontal width, enhancing the SUVaerodynamic performance.

From the rear quarter, the Bo Yue PRO’sdesign clean and logical featuring Geely’s distinctive chrome strip thatstretches towards the outer edges into the rear lamps. The three-dimensionalChinese fan inspired twisting rear lamps perfectly represent the combination oftechnology and culture.

After listening to consumer feedback fromacross our global markets, Geely has moved to lower the load height of the reartailgate, giving more space to users and allowing for easier loading andunloading of personal items.

The interior of the Bo Yue PRO has beenmade more spacious with a harmonious and elegant design.  Air vents stretch from both sides of theinstrument panel and push into the doors, enhancing the perceived transversespace.  Fluid interlacing layers fold andtwist to help enhance visual depth throughout the cabin. The most eye-catchingfeature is the two HD central infotainment panel and full LCD instrument panelwhich seamlessly integrate into the high tech dashboard with ambient lightingthat emulate wood grain textures.

The new Bo Yue PRO is a comprehensiveupgrade in terms of design, intelligence, and power, opening the door to the 5G“Internet of Everything” era. The model represents Geely Auto’s determinationto be the leader of intelligent connected vehicles. The model will be fullylaunched later in the quarter. Pre-sale booking for the Bo Yue PRO has openedin the Chinese market.
