The Bezza is another Perodua Best Seller in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has been Perodua’s largest export market, with the company selling some 15,600 vehicles there since 1997. So it’s no surprise that the Bezza has come to set some new records there. In fact, it was just revealed that the Bezza was the island nation’s best selling sub-1.0 litre sedan. In the first 7 months of 2019, it was the best selling sub-1.0 litre car of any body style for that matter.

This is especially impressive, given it’s priced at RM86,200 or Rs3.69 million in Sri Lanka. Still, despite the pricing, Perodua’s official Sri Lankan distributor Unimo Enterprises has found 1,500 Sri Lankan buyers since launching the car there back in June 2017.

“We congratulate Unimo Enterprises Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Mr Mahesh Gunathilake and his team for their hard work in promoting the brand and especially for the significant milestones they have achieved so far,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

He added that Perodua will continue to support its overseas distributors as the company looks to expand in the Asia-Pacific region.

“We work very closely with Unimo to provide product knowledge and technical training for their sales and service staff, so our valued Sri Lankan customers can rest assured knowing that their Bezzas and Axias are always in the best of hands,” said Dato’ Zainal.

The sole Bezza variant on sale in Sri Lanka comes with an aluminium-block 998 cc VVT-i engine and a four-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission, allowing a rated fuel efficiency of above 21 km/l.

“Buyers love the Perodua Bezza and Axia for their compactness, practicality, quality, reliability, durability and fuel efficiency. Both are also surprisingly roomy for their size,” said Unimo Enterprises Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Mr Mahesh Gunathilake.

“In particular, the Perodua Bezza has quite successfully introduced the compact sedan segment to Sri Lanka, a market long dominated by hatchbacks. Our customers really appreciate the bodystyle, increased comfort and cavernous 508-litre boot. The Perodua Bezza can take five
people in comfort and their luggage too, making it very ideal for family journeys,” he added.

Perodua aims to export 3,270 cars this year – a considerable 50% more than last year’s 2,184 units. Over 80,000 Perodua vehicles have been sold outside Malaysia to date.

In fact, as of the first seven months of 2019, the Perodua Bezza leads the sub-1.0 litre class in Sri Lanka in terms of new vehicle sales, across all bodystyles.
