2019 Perodua Axia Launched with VSA, ASA and New Variant

Those looking for more value and safety in a small and affordable package, rejoice. Perodua has launched a new Axia, adding advanced safety features to Malaysia’s most affordable hatchback.

The Standard Axias

The E model remains the most affordable car you can buy new in Malaysia, but now is the only variant of the Axia equipped with a manual gearbox.

The G is priced at RM33,490 and adds a number of features that make it more liveable for the average consumer like ABS and a radio with speakers and USB input.

The GXtra variant is seen as the sweetspot as it adds the all-important Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control safety features. It also comes with nice-to-haves like reverse sensors and driver seat height adjustment and all for just RM34,990.

SE and Advanced

For those willing to spend a little extra for more features, the Axia SE gives you Solar & Security film, semi-bucket seats, front corner sensors, Smart Entry & Push to Start button, Bluetooth functionality, and more for RM38,890.

The Advance or AV model has a few added features but its main selling point is the Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) kit which gives the Axia Pedestrian Detection up to 50km/h, Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100km/h), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80km/h), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control at RM43,190.

“Since order-taking began on 22 August, we have amassedover 5,000 bookings for the 2019 Perodua Axia, even before its public reveal,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“For over a quarter of a century, Perodua has mobilised Malaysia with quality compact vehicles that offer practicality, dependability, ease to drive and low overall ownership costs. For these reasons and more, the Perodua Kancil and Viva were popular choices for an entire generation of Malaysians buying their first cars.

“The 2019 Perodua Axia carries on that spirit while offering Malaysians much more in an entry-level vehicle than ever thought possible. It offers major advances in safety and style never seen before in this segment and yet retains itsaffordability,” he added.

The range-topping AV variant of the 2019 Perodua Axiagets Advanced Safety Assist (ASA*) 2.0, comprising Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 km/h), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100 km/h), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80 km/h), Front Departure Alert and Pedal MisoperationControl functions to mitigate collisions.

Also, all variants from GXtra and above come with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control, and all variants except the base E have ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution as standard. ISOFIX is to be had across the range, while SE and AV variants get solar and security window film.

The new stand-out addition to the Axia family is the STYLE variant, which sports more rugged-looking front and rear bumpers with skid plate elements, all-round body cladding, clear-lens tail lamps, roof mouldings, a rear spoiler and striking 15-inch five-spoke alloys. A new variant-exclusive Sunrise Orange body colour completes the trendy crossover-inspired look.

“The new Perodua Axia STYLE embodies the desire to be different; to unleash the fun and active side that exists in all of us. It is upbeat and trendy, and at the same time retains all the hallmark Axia qualities of practicality, spaciousness, clever design and ease to drive,” Dato’ Zainal said.

With rated fuel efficiencies of 22.5 km/l for the manual, 21.6 km/l for the auto and 20.8 km/l for the new STYLE variant, Malaysia’s pioneer Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) continues to be among the most fuel-efficient vehicles on sale today.

“We invite all Malaysians to meet and test drive the 2019 Perodua Axia at any of our sales outlets nationwide, where our friendly authorised sales advisors will be on hand to assist you and answer your queries,” Dato’ Zainal said.
