Nissan Patrol Extensively Facelifted for 2020

The Nissan Patrol, a full-sized luxury SUV that’s popular in the Middle East, has received a rather huge facelift. The new 2020 Patrol will not only look much more sophisticated but will see loads of new comfort, safety and connectivity features added.

Powertrain

The same powerful petrol engines are available here again on the 2020 Patrol. The base model gets a 4-litre V6 that’s good for 275hp and 394Nm of torque. Also available is a 5.6-litre V8 capable of 400hp and 560Nm of torque. The All-Mode 4X4 system returns, giving the Patrol some serious off-roading capabilities. On the V8 model, Hydraulic Body Motion Control is available for better comfort. A 7-speed automatic is the only option available here.

Design

Although this 2020 Nissan Patrol shares some core attributes with the 2010 model, a massive leap in terms of design has happened. You get a more modern V-Motion grille, new boomerang shaped LED headlights and taillights as well as more chrome on the rear. This will also be the first time Nissan deploys sequential rear turn indicators on any of their vehicles.

Step inside and you’ll find a centre console with dual displays with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Diamond-stitch quilted leather seats with padding and a new hand-stitched steering wheel are present. The front seats can be equipped with climate control and powered lumbar support. The Patrol benefits from additional NVH improvements and better air flow from its climate control system.

New Tech

Perhaps the biggest change is the addition of new safety and security technologies. Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies were already available on the previous Patrol, but the new Patrol adds Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. Intelligent Forward Collision Warning is also available on the 2020 Patrol.

About the Nissan Patrol

The Nissan Patrol can trace its roots back to the Jeep-inspired 4W60 model back in 1951. Now in its 6th generation, the Patrol has transformed into a more luxurious and comfortable SUV with 1.9 million units sold so far. While rare in Malaysia, the Patrol is popular in the Middle East and Australia.
