Mazda CX-8 Rolls out of Kulim Plant in 4 Variants

Bermaz Auto has officially unveiled the locally-assembled CX-8, an all new SUV with 3 rows of seats. The CX-8 was rolled out of the Kulim plant and will be sold domestically and exported to other markets as well.

The Mazda CX-8 fills the gap between the midsized 5-seater CX-5 and the large 7-seater CX-9.

Like the CX-9, the CX-8 can be configured to seat 7, but there are different seating configurations for this model as well. FOUR variants of the CX-8 are offered here:

  • CX-8 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 2WD MID
  • CX-8 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 2WD MID PLUS
  • CX-8 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 2WD HIGH
  • CX-8 SKYACTIV-D 2.2 AWD HIGH

Here’s how each of them are configured for seating:

CX-8 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 2WD MID

  • 7 seats
  • 2:3:2
  • Individual: Bench: Bench

CX-8 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 2WD MID PLUS

  • 6 seats
  • 2:2:2
  • Individual: Captain seats: Bench

CX-8 SKYACTIV-G 2.5 2WD HIGH & CX-8 SKYACTIV-D 2.2 AWD HIGH

  • 6 seats
  • 2:2:2
  • Individual: Captain seats with centre console: Bench

The 2.5L petrol engine is the same naturally aspirated unit you find in other Mazda models. It’s good for 192hp and 258Nm of torque while the 2.2L diesel engine, also found on the 6 and CX-5 produces 188hp and 450Nm off torque and is the only variant of the CX-8 with all wheel drive. All models comes with a 6-speed conventional automatic.

All variants get 19” alloys, 4 front and rear parking sensors each, dual chrome tipped exhaust finishers, a powered tailgate, MAZDA CONNECT with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Triple zone climate control, power adjustable driver seat, 6 airbags and more.

All variants but the 7-seater gets Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Smart City Bake Support.

Six colours will be available: Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Sonic Silver, and Jet Black.

Prices have yet to be revealed.
